if Alt-J are indeed headlining Other then it's a fair bet that the act they'll be up against won't be a modern one - more likely to be Prince or Madonna than Flo imo

I really don't see that being a case/problem at all

If the only day Alt-J can do is the sunday, they'l be up against whoever is headlining the sunday. It's not like they can be shifted to be against a different headliner!

whoops! sorry didn't realise that.

Alt-J can only play sunday - don't think there's much leeway of where they can be placed.

Oh I know, just think there would be a bit of crossover between their fanbases so would be a strange clash which is why I suggested them subbing.

The Vaccines up against Foo's. Would that happen too?

Don't see why not, it's not like they're that similar

They are down on Other stage on efestivals rumours but I don't really know where the reasoning for it is, so they could well subheadline the pyramid stage? I feel they'd work Alt-J around the pyramid headliner rather than work the headliner around Alt-J

Neil said a few weeks ago he's heard who the Sunday Other stage headliner is (though he wasn't certain the info was correct) and the name he was given isn't Alt-J, which is why they're down for unknown stage now.

ooo and nothing on the rumour page? SOUNDS LIKE AN EMBARGO

It's in the Other Stage headliners thread, was at least 2/3 weeks ago he said it. Don't think he hinted at who it was or anything, just said it wasn't Alt-J or The Prodigy.

I assumed it was Chemical Brothers as they're a strong rumour and he's said he's pretty sure they're playing a couple of times.

Also it doesn't sound like an embargo Matt as they generally only come with press releases.

Yeah that makes sense I suppose.

yeah i assumed it was Chemical Brothers as they went up as an SR on Other shortly after he mentioned it (i guess he didn't put them on the Sunday as he's also heard that Alt-J were one of the Other headliners, who can only do Sunday, so one of the bits of info is duff)

alt j opposite flo and chem bros opposite prince on the sunday makes sense, but that seems very, very strong..

yep two potential headliners on each stage. plus i still think Alt-J are too big to sub now. reckon the Chems info will've been wrong and they're playing another day

They have to be headlining the saturday other I reckon, up against kanye

I think alt-J up against florence probably wouldn't cause much problem at all. Like mumford vs the xx. Remember some people finding that a bit strange at first.

Would be gutted if Chemical Brothers clashed with Kanye as I'm not able to attend Bestival this year.

Me to because i would never pay to watch Kanye so this is my 1 chance but i've seen the Chemical Brothers before and would hate to miss them. I would like to see a headliner this year after not seeing one last year.

To me with this type of situation you go to see the band you love rather than who you "should" see just because it's once in a lifetime, but it's Xxxxxxx playing, blah blah blah....

If there was a Kanye/Chems clash I would see chems as not seen them before and like their songs, yes Kanye is bigger & a one off but I have actually seen him before many years ago when he last played V so that's how I play it

I would just go with your gut on the day if I were you :)

FWIW i think you're the closest so far. That friday 3 way clash JP / WH / Park would be utterly brutal.

Good shout on Beck, forgot about him. Can't quite see Peace being that high though. Also you're right on Grace Jones, she can't do Sunday as she's at Hyde Park

That could be accurate, other than a couple of small things the only thing I'd say about that is I don't see The Vaccines playing that slot - a) Third down on Other (remember they played the same slot on Pyramid in 2013) and b ) Below Jamie T. Just my two pence.

    • Plenty of good stuff this month. Very difficult choice, but I'm going with some of those I've listened to most (the sunny weather may also have been influential)...   1. The Coral - 388 2. Kurt Vile - Philadelphia's Been Good to Me 3. The Lemon Twigs - Look For Your Mind!   Others I've been enjoying... Laurie Anderson's live album, Broken Social Scene, Pigeon, The Black Keys, etc
    • Yesterday was was Primavera is all about and a reminder of why I come back every year. I saw 9 acts, very diverse in terms of genre and vibe, and most of them were great.  Highlights:   The Cure - have wanted to see them for years. Finally caught them and it was immaculate. Robert Smith's vocals at his age are incredible. The band sounded exactly like the albums which is impressive. 2.5 hours with basically no filler somehow.  Viagra Boys - what a front man! So much energy. Non stop moshing. Sound was great, vibe was top notch. Again 10/10 for me.  Rilo Kiley - basically what pipan said. Not a huge crowd but nice vibe, good sound. Different from the other acts I saw.   I also enjoyed the late night electronic stuff with Aurora Halal and KI/KI being fun. Caught some of Skrillex before Aurora Halal and it was cool in it's own way but not really my thing so we left.
