As individual acts they are more like the acts booked to headline Reading/Leeds but I think the people being touted for the third headliner slot would distance it a long way from Reading/Leeds in terms of a lineup. The likes of Elton, Swift and probably even Florence wouldn't get a look in at headlining Reading/Leeds.

Florence and the Machine are way more likely than AC/DC to do R+L on any given year though.

Doesn't this thing about Florence being the same as Rihanna and Taylor Swift tie in with the misconceptions that people may have of AC/DC and Foos being metal or something? Just the other side of the glass ain't it?

Sorry if I'm mentioning that a fair bit, I just found it an interesting theory.

Absolutely - which I why I've made a point of saying that Glastonbury would be unlikely to turn them away if those bands had dropped into Glasto's lap.

My angle on it is that I doubt Glasto would have gone out to get two bands that both class (from a mainstream angle) as 'heavy', particularly for the year that was after Metallica as the first 'heavy' headliner.

I get you. It's to do with next year's sale. It may alienate a few regular Glasto goers who may decide not to go next year, worrying that the heavy side is taking over or whatnot

They only played two gigs back to back on the whole of the last tour (168 shows) so if they announce anywhere on the Thursday its very unlikely.

Depends which variable you're measuring them on. You could cut the cake a number of ways to 'prove' that one is bigger than t'other, but I suspect that AC/DC as a Glasto headliner would be less of a big deal.

Having said that, you're never going to be able to book 3 acts to headline that everyone will like. Booking a non-rock act alongside 2 rock acts (coupled with very public announcements of the likes of Lionel Richie) shows that diversity is still alive and well on the farm.

Given that Florence subbed R&L as recently as 2012, headlining would hardly be a big change in direction. I'll be really surprised if she doesn't headline it within the next few years

Wembley should still be great. It's a crap deal for the Scottish based fans also going to Glastonbury though.

Still plenty of acts that could be in contention I reckon, we just don't have much of a grasp on who's touring yet and stuff like that so it's not as easy to figure out but names will probably pop up as the weeks pass.
