Does that mean you think ACDC are playing?

i'm far from sure.

But if they are, I can't see them being any day other than Friday - and as Emily has said it's not the Foos on Saturday they'd have to be Sunday if AC/DC were Friday.

If I had to make a guess and stick to it I'd say AC/DC aren't playing, the Foos are on Friday, and Elton John is Sat or Sun.

But I'm far from being able to rule AC/DC out, and their Glasgow date suggests Glasto on the Friday.

Just the tuppenceworth from the usual Cosmo readers.

 She's not really marketed that way at all. I can see why you might think that way if you've only seen a picture of her or something but she's no Jessie J - she does every a shit load of big music fests and not as a novelty pop act either.

I think Foos are nailed on for Friday and I don't think ACDC will play at all this year. Having both headline would be too similar and there would be a fair amount of disappointment, I'd say. I can see:

Foos
Prince
Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift's unlikely for the Sunday if she's got a show either side. Probably 7pm Friday if anything now.

Of all the arguments against booking AC/DC, the 'they're too similar to the Foo Fighters' one is hopefully one that's never even factored into the thinking at the booking office. There have been years with three guitar bands headlining, so two is hardly a stretch.

It's not just that tho, is it? It would be two 'heavy' bands, when Glasto hasn't traditionally done heavy bands as headliner.

Following on from last year having the first 'heavy' headliner, having two 'heavy' headliners this year would start to create the impression that the headliners are often going to be heavy. That will start to impact onto the appeal of Glasto to many of the types it currently attracts, and without generating as much appeal within any alternative audience.

I disagree. It would be potentially adding an entirely different demographic to an already over-subscribed market. From a Glastonbury HQ point of view it wouldn't be anything other than good. I doubt demand from Glastonbury regulars would dwindle based on these headlining.

Foo Fighters are festival regulars, AC/DC are legends. That's in no way a niche, heavy duo. Especially Foos. A lot of crossover in fans there.

... while also deducting a bigger demographic.

In case you've not noticed, mainstream audiences are not keen on 'heavy'.

You Shook Me All Night Long and Thunderstruck are a little different to Master of Puppets though! You don't hear Master of Puppets at weddings.

Can't really afford the Wembley show if it's anything above £50, which it will be, so I really hope this happens

The Dublin gig is 90 euro per ticket. So about £70 ish to you in Wembley I'd say.

Foo Fighters have headlined every other mainstream festival there is. If anything it's a very safe (boring) booking for Glastonbury. Although they may be considered heavy I would say their fan base transcends that.

They're about the only traditionally 'heavy' band I can think of with that cross over in appeal.

If the acts in question were especially heavy that'd be true. (I've not heard a solitary minute of their music, but) Foo Fighters are a pop punk act and are heavy in the way that Green Day or Pearl Jam are, i.e. not very. They pack all the rock'n'roll wallop of the Kings of Leon.

I'll grant you that AC/DC's 'image' is heavier than the Glasto norm. But that's just a logo and a penchant for denim waistcoats. The actual tunes likely to be deployed are no heavier than Led Zep, Neil Young or the Stones. If they were all doom and gloom, sturm and drang then aye, it'd be a factor for sure - but they're a tongue in cheek party band.

I know it's a problem of perception - but it's a different proposition from two Metallica-a-likes being booked.

I'd say from £70 is about right as re-sale sites already have standing tickets at just over £210!

    • Plenty of good stuff this month. Very difficult choice, but I'm going with some of those I've listened to most (the sunny weather may also have been influential)...   1. The Coral - 388 2. Kurt Vile - Philadelphia's Been Good to Me 3. The Lemon Twigs - Look For Your Mind!   Others I've been enjoying... Laurie Anderson's live album, Broken Social Scene, Pigeon, The Black Keys, etc
    • Yesterday was was Primavera is all about and a reminder of why I come back every year. I saw 9 acts, very diverse in terms of genre and vibe, and most of them were great.  Highlights:   The Cure - have wanted to see them for years. Finally caught them and it was immaculate. Robert Smith's vocals at his age are incredible. The band sounded exactly like the albums which is impressive. 2.5 hours with basically no filler somehow.  Viagra Boys - what a front man! So much energy. Non stop moshing. Sound was great, vibe was top notch. Again 10/10 for me.  Rilo Kiley - basically what pipan said. Not a huge crowd but nice vibe, good sound. Different from the other acts I saw.   I also enjoyed the late night electronic stuff with Aurora Halal and KI/KI being fun. Caught some of Skrillex before Aurora Halal and it was cool in it's own way but not really my thing so we left.
