Dunka biscuit

It is pronounced Ruspridge just to confuse folk!!

Well, that really helps!

There is a town near where my in-laws used to live, called Poughill. Some people pronounced it Powell, others said Puffle, but the best version was Poo Hill. No idea how it's supposed to be pronounced :)

Norfolk is a great place for place names - when I lived and worked over that way I got very confused.

CG hope your friend is ok!

Ben, I think we should have a sing song at the fest :) speaking of which, I did a choir thing yesterday, for a new choir which I can't decide whether or not to join, but I did have a good sing and managed a 17 beat top A, and a top C! The A is standard but a C can be hit or miss if I'm not singing regularly!

Would love to Lucy. I'd like to bring a uke too, but won't because I really don't have the capacity, travelling Ninja-Light and on the coach. Maybe someone will have brought one. I don't do cheesy, but love singing/playing with people who actually can! I know that sounds mega-snobby, but I think you know what I mean ;)

So glastochat on FB say The Who have cancelled their gig on 29/6 in Paris and speculation is high that they're Sunday's headliner??

Indeed it does seem likely. neil's got them down as tbc so id be confident they are the last headliner

Cg!!!

You're not a one-thread-girl! I know, 'cause I've seen your posts elsewhere!

This has been almost the sole topic of conversation on the non-NFR NFC parts of the forum (be calm folks, there are other threads, but they're mostly rubbish!) since The Sun Online broke the story on...Friday, I think.

In a nutshell, it will be The Who, who are cancelling a sold-out 6000 capacity gig at Le Zenith in Paris on the same day, in order to do what they would rather do and headline GF. Sorry, France, but feck you.

I've written with huge vitriol against the moral disgrace that is this series of events. About as non-Glastonbury as this naive newbie can conceive...

:(

Hey Ben, I have posted in other threads but don't even look in the ones with bands as the topic so I didn't know anything of their cancellation. Although I think they are a great booking, I am with you on this one... It's unfair to their loyal fans to reschedule!

To be fair to the forum, almost everyone, even those acknowledging that they will probably go see The Who, are united in decrying it as a really shitty thing to do. Mrs Ben and I have spent many a long day indoctrinating our three in the morals of making, and honouring, commitments. "Yes, George, I know that the party sounds really fun, and that 'everyone' will be there, but you have committed previously to playing for your football team, and they're counting on you, so that's really what you should do, isn't it?".

There's a heartbreaking link to an email from a guy from BRAZIL, contacting the Ffrench venue for clarification as he's booked his flight, accommodation etc. for that gig. And another post on The Who forum from January from a British guy who, at the time, could not contain his joy that he would be watching his favourite band, in Paris, on the day of his 50th birthday.

Just a rude and disrespectful way to treat the people who are the sole reason that they find themselves in such a position of privilege. No fans = no band, gents.

(a bit cross) Ben

Hi cG, I hope it isn't the who! I can't find anything online about them canceling Paris? Xx

They've cancelled both Paris dates apparently, seen people from Brazil commenting saying all of their flights and trains etc are already booked, that really sucks :/

It is a real shame for their fans who have made plans and paid for them.

That really blows for them especially when they are coming from the other side of the world! The War on Drugs changed their date in Nottingham because of their Brit award nomination, I was peeved just for having to change one days annual leave <_<

Exactly. These things matter to the average punter. I was mightily pissed off that Michael Jackson died when he did the selfish bastard. He had loads of people booked!!

    • i agree, was really disappointed by the Slowdive sound (we were fairly close to the podium) also if you consider that for all other main stage acts i saw they got it perfectly right.
    • Thanks man for sharing your thoughts. I would say i generally agree with you and do agree people close to the podium should position themselves further back if they want to have full conversations and apparently are not interested in the music; to fair it is mind boggling these people are even there as chatting gets so much easier in the back field. That said i did not really have the same experience as you, front rows for example at MBV, Men I trust, Big Thief, NewDad, Slowdive, where really into the music.    yes i BBK is really high on our list but we just realized it is next year 25 years of Primavera so perhaps we do one more.
    • When does the Thursday lineup get announced? I see they had Moonchild Sanelly and Young Knives last year, would be cool to get something along those lines again.
    • Where did you see this?
    • No idea how it'll work in a festival setting but really enjoying Prewn at the moment.
