me me me We're going as long as the weather is ok

That part of the equation is looking very promising at the moment...... but Sunday is a way off.

We will know by Thursday I think about Ali and her work - the plan is we will be going to Bristol.

Oh now I really want to go!

Not sure if I'm still drunk or hungover yet and been at work for almost an hour, luckily I'm only working until 13.30 today.

It certainly is a difficult one, Ben.

As you say, almost everyone has said they dislike the way their fans are being treated. The question then becomes what to do about it.

You've said on other threads that you're not interested in seeing them anyway, so your choice is quite easy, but what about those who would be interested?

I'm what you'd call a 'greatest hits' fan of The Who, I've heard a few albums, but only own the singles. In normal circumstances I'd be pretty chuffed at them being announced, as I'd never normally pay their ticket prices to see them, but this situation with the Paris gigs gives me a dilemma. If I go to see them, I may well enjoy it, but it may leave a 'sour taste in the mouth'. On the other hand, if I don't go on principle, I miss what will almost certainly be my only chance to see them live, what my Nan would call 'cutting off my nose to spite my face'.

I very much doubt the number of people opting to stay away as a protest will have a huge impact on the crowd size, so the band, and the festival, are unlikely to notice any discontent. Most of the crowd won't even be aware of the cancelled gigs, and many who are will still go anyway.

I think, for the moment, all I can do is wait and see. Firstly, wait and see if they are indeed playing glasto. Second, wait and see if they do something out of the ordinary to recompense the fans who are losing out due to the cancelled Paris gigs. Finally, wait and see if any other act that is a 'must see' for me is headlining another stage that night, which could make my decision easier!

it'd be interesting, though i suspect impossible, to see how many artists re-arrange things to appear at Glastonbury this year. i suspect out of a bill of around 1000 acts, The Who won't be the only ones, but not all bands are subject to the same levels of investigation as the headliners.

It is actually very common for gigs to be moved/cancelled for a variety of reasons and some at very short notice.

Last year London Grammar cancelled a gig in Newcastle as they had been invited on Jools Holland.

Is everyone boycotting Jools Holland?

well i watched Jools on tv this weekend, so no, but i have, without even trying, managed to boycott the entirety of London Grammar's career to date!

LOL

I really liked London Grammar - saw them twice in small venues before anyone had heard of them........ then they 'made it' and released remix after remix after remix, quadrupled ticket prices and I was less than impressed. Still enjoy their album now and again.

I am sure everyone here has watched Jools Holland and I am pretty sure most had no idea about LG cancelling a gig to be on it.

Still, we will be told reasons for the Who happenings at some point and if not I shall not speculate cos it could be so many things.

Will I watch them. Undecided.

Would love to Lucy. I'd like to bring a uke too, but won't because I really don't have the capacity, travelling Ninja-Light and on the coach. Maybe someone will have brought one. I don't do cheesy, but love singing/playing with people who actually can! I know that sounds mega-snobby, but I think you know what I mean ;)

Ben

Not sure - Couchy's avatar does not look like the pic we had last week.

Has anyone seen couchy AND wonky's cousin in the same room together?

Little sleep last night and moisture today. Chuff.

Grumbles over, morning all!

Morning!!

Tired today and my central locking is bust on the car! I can't lock the doors! I'll text the mechanic later.

Other than that, it is mixed weather outside and with only 49 days til the festival we really need to start making sacrifices and praising the Gods properly!!

I am going to London in a month then Paris a week or so after that, quite prepared to take a load of r*** in exchange for a dry Glastonbury.
