A thought came to mind this morning... it's not inconceivable that the 'delay' (which isn't really a delay at all, but is later than last year and surrounded by minimal announcements from GF) is due to Kanye pulling out. He seems personally active on Twitter (rather than his management handling that for him) so he must have seen the vitriol directed his way first hand. Behind the scenes, maybe he's had second thoughts and has withdrawn from the bill.

I don't think that's happened, and I hope not (firstly because I'm looking forward to seeing him, and secondly because it would look terrible for the Festival), but it's possible, isn't it?

I actually thought the other day, how must he feel seeing that so many people think it's a joke him headlining , and I think some acts would of been like, f**k that actually.... But then I thought nah.... Not mr ego west

If Kanye bailed at the first sign of controversy or vitriol I don't think he'd have much of a career left

Kanye will be there and I suspect he will let everyone know he has arrived a lot louder than Jay Z did. It could go to car crash proportions.

I wonder if Prince would play a greatest hits set?

He is somewhat of an Enigma after all

Prince maybe a nut job but I can not imagine him being utterly stupid. If he did not play a greatest hits set peppered with funky covers it would be a disaster for him. The TV slot dictates it will be a set pandering to the masses. I dont think Prince is even crazy enough to go against that............

Which was just about perfect and should keep the 'casuals' just as happy as the hardcore fans.

If anything, the controversy will make kanye want to do it more..

Thats genuinely sad.

Anyway, is there anything worse than a "sampler" set? Play the whole tune for fucks sake.

Prince would be amazing, his set would be talked about to current young festival goers grand children in 50 years time

He really is that good, hope he re does 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' at Glasto too

while it's not impossible that someone there does - tho i'd say it's not too likely when the info is locked down as tightly as it is - I'd also say it's hugely unlikely that that info has been diseminated widely within the bbc.

So if anyone does know, it's only likely to be the person responsible for the tV broadcasts, so they can start talking about whether it gets broadcast with the act.

Obviously there's no way its common knowledge but the pre production will of started at a high level and I'd be surprise if the didn't know a full line up by now. But it will be a tiny group of people know that ibformation.

>gets psyched for Prince

>wants him to play a cover

I love his original music, but his guitar solo on While My Guitar Gently Weeps, is the best guitaring from an artist that is still alive imho

Mumfords did 'With a little help from my friends' so no reason Prince could not do While My Guitar Gently Weeps

You're comparing Mumfords to Prince? Wow...

    • I too am always a bit blurred on what/who constitutes a legend slot but would Sting fit that bill?  Those there said his IoW slot was v good and he has enough of a songbook imo for a Sun afternoon if he uses the Police's 1st 2 albums for a fair chunk of it
    • Thing is, I'd have said that as well.   But then she inexplicably ended up on the Wilderness lineup and that changes everything. I reckon if that goes well, which it will, then she's very much in the picture.
    • This has probably been discussed a hundred times already on efests but what constitutes a legend? I know some of it is my age but I don't see eurithmics or Duran Duran as legend status. Neil young or nils lofgren then yes and neither of them have overly troubled the charts. Duran Duran and indeed the eurithmics I would put in the 80s category and whilst it would be ok (human league at isle of wight we're fabulous) they just arent in my mind legend status.  Zombies played same festival- i would take that.
    • friendly tonight delayed , pitch draining pretty quick to be fair .... not sure it bodes well for other games with potential fixture backlog
    • Never happen, but an Annie Lennox solo or Eurythmics reunion would make me very happy.
