Other than born in the USA and at a push hungry heart what could he have played to appease the casual fan ?

Even if they weren't massivel familiar to the average joe, deploying a few more winning numbers the likes of Rosie, Tenth Avenue Freeze Out, Sherry Darling or Darlington County instead of things like Radio Nowhere would have gone a long way.

God no!! I was loving Mr Andy smash angel on the other stage.

No doubt whilst being watched by Google

Sorry I ever doubted you, a magnificent performance by all on the Other stage that night, I think Inertia Creeps put me on a higher level of consciousness. Leicester's finest did a brilliant job of keeping the nobheads out.

I don't think Pharrell or swift will be there.

And I think madonna will headline. Maybe take that.

I think Ben Howard might be bumped up to sub. With Florence. Third I dunno... Prodigy, are they available?

I'll categorically tell you that Ben Howard will not sub, I have no actual evidence but I'm that confident!

One day you'll be walking along the street all unsuspecting like and Racing in The Street will come along unannounced and just fucking destroy you.

I do enjoy the utter musical certainty of your posts at times, CG...but Bruce? Nah. Just not for me i'm afraid.

It says nothing to me about my life.

I don't like his songs when he sings them. Heard some fantastic versions of his songs by others.

This is brilliant, as is the album

Edit to include....

And it also contains probably my favourite all time cover

I'm on Fire/Spirit/Tenth/Jungle/Racing/the aforementioned USA & Heart/Atlantic....

Don't disagree. Put the above in,especially jungleland and I'm on fire and it would have been, without a shadow of a doubt a lot more appealing to the casual fan and made a better set.

But like I say when you book an act with a 40 year back catalogue there's always going to a setlist issue with people.

For what it's worth I'd say 18 of the 25 song setlist where songs the casual fan would know. Obviously that's biased as a fan.

    • Ive always had a lot of time for the mighty Shots, a pal of mine used to commentate on their games for Sussex Counties radio and he'd sneak me into the ground for midweek games, and we'd even nick a tea and a plate of sandwiches. This is back in the George Borg days, so um . . a little while ago now
    • Hmm, weird- Rush are playing the Co-Op live on the 12th and the 14th, and Megadeth are the meat in that sandwich - so they have to roll everything in, roll it out again, only to roll it back in and then out - here's hoping for a prog hokey-cokey with all manner of bizarre time signatures and drum solos!
    • Depends what you mean by seeing 'more stuff' about it.    I definitely don't trust the original Sun article.

    • Chill. There is no chance Sziget will be cancelled by the government. Even the prime minister held a press conference today, where he confirmed this.   Magyar said they do not want to shut down the country or prevent events from taking place. He gave the example that vetoing an event would be like completely cutting off a large consumer’s electricity supply for the organizers. However, just as they have not taken such a measure against large consumers, they have not taken steps to cancel events either. (Magyar did not name a specific event, but he was presumably referring specifically to the Sziget Festival.) At the same time, Péter Magyar stressed that if disruptions occur in the system or the heatwave persists, it could become necessary to postpone or reschedule events (example: some Hungarian football games will probably be held in daylight, moved to a few hours earlier, to save energy), although he believes there is currently little chance of that happening. This is particularly true for events that rely entirely, or largely, on their own energy sources.
