Standard 'I may have missed something' disclaimer but would FM playing explain Giddings quote about not being able to get one over on Glastonbury?

it would, but them being billed as a 'world festival exclusive' for IOW would seem awfully odd if he knew about them also being at Glastonbury. i know all these exclusives are getting thrown about willy nilly, but i'm guessing a LOT of people have bought tickets for IOW on the basis of Fleetwood Mac being there. it'd be pretty scandalous

So the comment on Florence 'not headlining but she could' was maybe a hint at her subbing Prince .. Who may yet still not happen for whatever reason?

is the assumption, yes. tbh, it'd be an odd thing for Emily to say - 'Flo ain't headlining but if our headliner falls through, she will be' - but who knows

Erm... If the jiggling about on the rumours page was due to a story about FM playing after all, wouldn't we expect that FM were added to the rumours page?

Reads to me that there is a story about FM that lends credence to the royal one playing.

I'd guess FM could change their mind and say 'look we want to do this show as well how do we make it happen'. I don't have a great sense on how valuable or meaningful these exclusive labels are.

All fun and games this not knowing anything beyond scraps of conjecture

So last year Prince doesnt commit and we get an odd poster and then Metallica in his place as they were going to headline the Other but not announced as a back up?

And this year we think the same thing is going down but with Flo as the potential replacement for Prince?

Sheesh!

Yeah that's what I thought Neil meant. Hearing about an act agreeing to sub with a bump up if Fleetwood Mac dropped out or something.

Even if you disregard this 'world exclusive' which is still holding true, they've got shows on Friday and Saturday and I don't think they're doing three shows consecutively.

I'm not really sure how news / rumour / BS about Fleetwood Mac could relate to any other acts playing / not playing either...

In as much as if they're not playing it seems unlikely this would be new information to the Eavii

Yeah but if we didn't have Metallica desperate to play the festival then it could have been Elbow couldn't it?

This is what i gathered from Neil's post. Not sure how anyone could jump to the conclusion that FM were back in the frame.

    • We'll see. Bristol and Leeds are both massively overdue big public transport investment - 2 of the cities with the worst transport infrastructure per capita in Western Europe. If this works to help support investment projects great and fair play to Burnham.
    • The Bródy Day was his idea because Sziget has always been late when it comes to this kind of concert. They would only organize farewell performances or tribute shows after an artist had passed away. Since Bródy is one of the country's greatest singer-songwriters, they wanted to honor him while he is still alive. (He didn't say it exactly like that, but the man is 80 and has just stopped playing large concerts.) He never understood why anyone would focus exclusively on one generation, especially Gen Z, who have less disposable income, drink less, and are, in his words, "afraid of partying." He explained that in the past, people loved festivals because of the nonstop partying, whereas many younger people today find that experience overwhelming or exhausting. That's one of the reasons why Sziget will introduce more chill zones and sensory-friendly spaces. They also want to attract older generations, who are generally more willing and able to spend money. The Sziget Icons days are aimed at this audience, and in the future they hope to create a more balanced lineup that appeals to people over 35 as well.   It was a long interview. If anything else comes to mind, I'll share it.
    • Maybe you need a groovy mayor who can get you the money.   Anyway, looks like mayors going to get a whole load of fiscal devolution and greater powers...so best everyone gets one, a decent one, and get a load of Madchesterism.
