mentioned it over in the Reading section, but christ does this sound like Coldplay / other generic MOR bands. at least with the banjos you could tell it was Mumfords - now it could be absolutely anybody

"Marcus?"

"Yes Country Winston?"

"People are saying we have no credibility? That's not true, is it? Say it isn't true."

"Hm, I don't think so, Country Winston. But let's make sure, we'll just snaffle the sound of a more credible band for our next record."

"Excellent! Who? U2? Are they credible?"

"Um, I have no idea. I mean they're massive, so they must be!"

"Let's do it!"

Coldplay may be marmite but I think we can all agree we don't need any inferior copycat versions. If the rest of the album is like that then the Mumfords should go sit in a dark room with the other guilty parties Kodaline and Imagine Dragons and have a long hard think about life.

I've never heard a band as desperate to have their songs used in Apple adverts as Imagine Dragons.

Coldplay weren't the first to come up with that typical stadium rock sound though. Don't even think U2 were.

"Marcus, old sport?"

"Yes Country Winston, my dear fellow?"

"The bloody proles are saying we have no credibility? That's not true, is it? Say it isn't true."

"Blimey, I don't think so, Country Winston, dearest chap. But let's make jolly well sure, we'll just snaffle the sound of a more credible band for our next record, eh what?."

"Splendid! Who? U2? Are they credible?"

"Gosh, I have no idea, dear boy. I mean they're jolly massive, so they must be!"

"Rather!"

Edited it for you Winslow, this is how it actually went.

I'm pretty sure The Stones were the first, they decided they'd had enough of making the best music ever and turned their hand to making some of the worst.

Ah, yes, thanks for that. I was more concerned with getting across the fact that one of their members is called Country Winston, apparently unironically.

Ha! I thought you'd invented the most twattish name you could think of, unbelievable. I'm beginning to think they're actually a Giles Wembley-Hogg type thing and it's gone over everybody's head. Like how Al Murray's audiences are always 99% people who are the butt of the joke, going "WHEYYYYYYY" whenever he says something sexist or racist.

Nope, and as if that wasn't enough, he's the one with the banjo.

Just reading some of the comments from the Mumfords video. Some amazing nuggets there:

I can not even contain my disappointment. Mumford and Sons was such a breath of fresh air in this new mainstream world of music
Wha... what? What happened? Where are the deep lyrics?
HOLY SHIT YES!!!!!!! this is just as lyrically and musically sound than they have ever been. Dear hipster indie bands, prepare to be shat on.
I AM MORE EXCITED FOR THIS ALBUM THAN I WAS THE FIRST TIME I EVER PUT MY PENIS INSIDE A GIRL

Would you just say "had sex" if that's what you meant? I'm a bit freaked out by the idea that he put his penis inside a girl, but in a way that we don't have a convenient name for yet. Was is flaccid or erect? Which orifice? Was she aware? Was she consenting? Mumford & Sons fans are just fundamentally fucked up as human beings.

    • So who's got a good rain dance in the locker, then? Now we're in August the weather watchers can come out of hiding.    Already having flashbacks to last year (the dust cloud of doom at the crossroads by the Courtyard entrance).   Also got to be looking sketchy for the fire/fireworks on the Sunday. Might be a controversial opinion but wouldn't mind it - the fencing annoyance isn't worth the 10 mins of 'oooohhh, aaahhhh', plus the raining of hot embers last year!

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
