I've only been since 2010 so I can't comment on the olden timez.

But I would say the most important thing is attitude - don't go in expecting the exact festival you left behind and you probably won't be disappointed.

I love it endlessly now but I'm only 24 and going for the fourth time.

Man are you in for a shock Sofa. After the festi, would you remember to come back on here and post about what really stuck out for you as having most changed since '93?

For me since '94, so much has changed that much of it is unrecognisable both architecturally and sociologically. However there are echos of its former past in certain places, probably many South of the railway line. Things that were the same and have changed little since then to my mind are: Cider Bus, parts of Green Fields (e.g. Croissant Neuf), parts of Circus, Acoustic Stage, parts of Avalon maybe (though it was a fairly new area back then itself I believe).

The actual saddest change for me from the early 90s to now is the disappearance of acid mostly being sold on the bridges between cabaret and green fields etc.

Though conversely this means that we actually get to watch some bands now so you win some you lose some.

No one's mentioned the one way systems - it's massively affected my enjoyment of the festival.

For many years my weekend mostly consisted of bumbling around the now named 'naughty corner' and surrounding area (anywhere east of pennards I guess..)

Now you have controlled access with barriers, lanes, cctv, security and five0 everywhere...

cross a bridge and want to go back ? walk along the old railway track any direction you want ??

No way, some hi-viz muppet will direct you on a 20minute detour....

Don't want to be cynical, it's still the best place on earth for the last weekend in June, and the Funktion One stacks all over the place just rock, the sound quality will blow you away !

So, the collective thoughts of the three that went, first time since 2002.

We had a wonderful weekend, being veterans of 1997 & 1998, both years we got drenched, we were prepared and knew what to expect.

We listened to brilliant music, I had tears in my eyes a couple of times, music can move your soul.

It was busy, for sure. Other Stage on Friday morning for Kaiser Chiefs & Blondie, amazing crowd. Dolly Parton was a bit OTT where we were, right of the stage as you look at it, that was no fun. I did not know they let locals in on the Sunday, they must have all gone to the Pyramid stage with their chairs and picnics.

Loved Arcadia - in 1997 I think there was a Dance Tent, that was it!

Loved that pretty much the only bar you could march up to with no queue was the Cider Bus, loving the Burrow Hill cider.

The main difference? The clientele. There was no 'edge' to proceedings.

No rebellion.

Before, it felt like a genuine few days out of the loop. Now, it was mild.

Too many people with kids in tow, who really looked as if they would like to be tucked up at home rather than induldging their parents' selfish whim. Having children involves not doing this stuff for a while, that is why we have not been since 2002.

I missed the travellers' contingent. I am guessing that Eavis was told to clean up his act, go upmarket, in order to retain his licence, which is a shame, I think the roots have been lost.

No guys roaming offering drugs, no guys offering cans of Stella out of a back pack. Can I be controversial? No one even pissing up a hedge, everyone queuing. Is this Wimbledon?

Our camping days are maybe over, we will try again for next year, but hiring a camper van, which seems to sit well now with the festival.

Are those without a few quid not welcome? I have now been enlightened as to a number of ways to gain free entry. It is not beyond the scope of GFL to close many of these avenues down, but year on year they don't do so. Why I wonder? I'd like to think that it's because they turn a blind eye whilst publicly towing the line with the licensing authorities. Apart from that you don't have to spend money at the bars or eat expensively. I only had one drink from a bar this year.

There's now camping behind the Dance Village (Pylon etc) which is fairly recent

You should have gone to the Stone Circle. I bought a few cans of strongbow (they had stella, but I wasnt in the mood) - being wheeled in a babys buggy.

I did come across one person selling Stella for £2 or 3 for a fiver near the Pyramid before Dolly played. So overcome with nostalgia and thirst that I was, I managed to lose all my mates during the impromptu transaction.

Agreed about the stone circle. I went there on Sunday night and it reminded me of the 'old festival'. I didn't like it, much preferred The Park observation hill.
