I'm interested in trying the natural fruit route this year, last year sherbet lemons were nice, cola bottles and skittles not so good.

what are the best natural fruit and herb ones people have tried? How do they compare to the sweets?

I will let you know in the next couple of days about the strawberry and basil, just letting it sit a bit longer. Were also trying mojito vodka but haven't started that one yet. We tried flying saucers as a sample last year and is was like drinking liquidated acid - just wrong!

I'm making Christmas pudding vodka for in the evenings, nice and 'warming' with the cinnamon, and elderflower gin for during the daytime, if my damn tree will flower, might have to make a trip to the canal today.

For those wanting fruity concoctions, I highly recommend blueberry, it works for vodka and gin and I'm on my second batch now as first batch was so lovely my parents have already consumed all of it!!

Don't make the mistake I did one year. Made delicious lemon vodka, so delicious in fact we realised we could drink it straight, thus resulting in drinking it all, subsequently The Worst Hangover Ever, and me crying in our tent that I wanted to go home every day until we did go home.

Fancied something different this year. So I've been infusing some alcohol for the past couple of weeks.

Pineapple and Mango rum

Ginger and Lime gin

Chocolate Orange Vodka

Haven't tasted them yet but they smell lovely. Just now need to work out what to drink them with lol!

What sort of vodka should one use for this? Would something like Grants be ok? Steer clear of supermarket branded vodka? Thinking of going for blueberry, mars and skittles. Thinking skittles and blueberry can mix with leomonade, mars for shots :D

I'll be doing werther's original vodka this year - third year running. It's the big hit every year. I've done pear drops, rhubarb and custard, cherry drops and murray mints before. Boiled sweets dissolve quick and easy but thinking of trying a new one this year. Any tips on other sweeties to use? Don't fancy the skittles as it looks like they need a lot of filtering. Thinking maybe jelly babies, refreshers or haribo tangfastic? Anyone done these before?

Not done any this year but previously my favourite was blue raspberry bootlace, a wonder blue stains anything it come into contact with colour but very palatable for shots. Does need straining however. Second fave was lemon sherbet, delicious mix with sprite

I've made tons of these over the years. We used to have parties where everyone bought a flavored vodka and we would vote on the best.

When there were 10 of us it was great. The popularity grew and the latter ones had over 30 and by the time you tasted them all you couldnt remember much about the first... or anything to be honest.

Some of the winners we had were old school penny sweet foam bannanas

After Eight Mints

Refresher Sweets

These were all excellent

Some of the worst were Carrots, All Day Breakfast and Sprout....

Choose carefully :P

Do you remember how you did the banana infusion? I've been thinking them or the Haribo Strawberry sweets to try and do!

We just chucked them all in the Vodka for a while until they dissolved. Then used a straining bag to filter out any left over crap on top. (coffee filters work just as well)
