I'd probably agree with that maybe switching some of them around to play them earlier in the set or what have you and maybe completely removing Fuel from the list and replacing it with Fade to Black as an interesting start to an encore.

Noticed it has I disappear on it! Didn't think they played that very often would love them to play Whiskey in the Jar.

You have to have Fuel for the pyros and to keep the crowd warm.

A viewing of Some Kind of Monster will get excitement levels running at fever pitch.

That is one amazing film and a must see for anyone that has never watched it.

I did about an hour of it, yeah, gave it a proper go. I wasn't glued to the screen all the time, but it was on. Just not my bag at all, but you know, Glastonbury isn't my personal taxi taking me where I want to go, it's a public bus, I get on, I get off at my stop.

Hetfield will have no problem in publicly stating how unusual the show is for the band - but how envigorated and honoured it will make them feel. Huge challenge for a band with few uphill climbs ahead in their career.

Not unlike recent appearances by Springsteen and U2 this is a transformative phase for the festival where it gives these last remaining heritage acts the chance to test their wares against the generalist/populist hordes of Worthy Farm. Big respect to the bands for giving it a go. U2 "got it" but were defeated by the weather and a lacklustre album. Springsteen utterly missed the boat and didnt even closely meet his usual standards.

So neither U2 nor Springsteen - of the big self sufficient stadium acts passed the test IMO. The Sat night on the Other stage is arguably an easier ride for the SF legends however. With a balmy evening, sense of fun and mischief in the air... it could go down in history.

I think lemmy is in a worse state than they are making out? and i think they have cancelled all future touring plans.

Not quite all the future plans, just the spring tour. They were announced for some festivals and things stateside after Coachella and they're still due back in Europe in summer. Whether they manage to play them or not is another thing, mind.

Would they lump them two together though? I think it'd be more meaningful for the festival to have them on different days and/or stages.

Probably but a lot of us were saying Metallica would never play the festival anyway because that was too heavy. But yeah I don't think that pairing will happen anyway. Sunday Other opposite the legend slot would do me for Motörhead. Edited February 16, 2014 by dentalplan

Ah, I see. No I don't think there would be health and safety concerns if they were to have their secret set on the Other Stage. It's more than big enough and the Glastonbury crowd won't really get out of control.

It was my mate who said that. And with all due respect, if you are a glastonbury goer, I doubt very much you are a hardcore metaller. My mate reckons glastonbury must be hell on earth

As with most genres of music, 'metal' is a pretty broad church and I'd imagine that for everyone who loves Metallica as thrash pioneers and considers their early albums to be classics of the kind there are people who consider them way too soft or past it or both.
