Thriller (the single) is like a novelty record. I understand it made a big impact at the time, but now it's just laughable.

i'd say the album far more than just the title track...i mean, it's not my cup of tea at all, i never purchased it, but there's no denying that it was a historical album with so many hit singles on it. 35 weeks at #1 on US album chart. the perfectly put together commerical album. the album is historic. if he were alive and had his shit together to do one of those 'play an album' front to end things, seeing Thriller performed would have been one of those things to experience even if u never purchased a Michael Jackson record or gig ticket in your life

most criminally (w/ regards to Thriller, not his acts)...Thriller kept the best heavy metal album of all-time, Def Leppard's Pyromania, at #2 on the US album charts for 15 weeks in 1983...15 weeks that the Lep's could have claimed a #1 US album...scandalous! I remember watching that chart each week fucking hating Thriller!

more on Def Leppard/Michael Jackson link in my music life...I remember in 1988 I rolled up to Wembley box office to pick up some Def Leppard tix for their Hysteria Wembley Arena gig...pretty big line outside and i soon find out it's because Jacko's Wembley Stadium tix are on sale...anyway, some tout offers me 20 quid on top of how ever much a few Jacko tix cost to pick up Jacko tix on top of my Def Leppard tix...so i'm 17 and this is the deal of my life, as he more than covers my Def Leppard tix and I've got a few extra quid to go to the pub right after...
