Yep. Thanks as always. I don't read all the threads so I'm a bit out of the loop. I thought you left, Neil?

I have. I have another job.

I still own and run the company, and so still have a management role at that level. My involvement is pretty minimal.

That doesn't mean I have to stop posting.

Tried a couple of times to get on here, failed so just left it alone till after it sold out.

Thanks though Neil and hopefully you get sorted with a ticket and will see you at the cider bus!

I don't have a preference either way, as I don't know which one is better financially.

I started offering the ad-free subscription because someone asked for it and it was possible for me to do easily enough on the forums.

Since I first did that I've redesigned how the main part of the site works (at the back end of things) and so been able to expand the ad-free offering to the main pages too - and I did that without changing the price for the ad-free subscription.

So anyway, sign up for ad-free or don't sign up - I don't mind either way, unless you're using an ad-blocker!

(If you are using an ad-blocker here then I'll ban you if I find out, and at some point soon-ish you won't get access to here because I'll be putting an ad-blocker-blocker in place.

Not sure he has really, he's certainly called blockers freeloaders and made it clear he doesn't want ad blockers but hasn't explained the mechanics of the blocking and HOW revenue is lost. Maybe it's me being dense but i'm sure i'm not the only one on here who thought the blocking was fairly insignificant as far as affecting the sites revenue (because I thought the ads were still 'called' but not displayed). I'm still not sure exactly how much is lost from a non-ad clicker, maybe Neil can clarify and then more people will contribute?

My subscription renewal is due today, I know this as I got a nice reminder email from efests. But... it said I needed to pay for next year, even though my subscription is on a recurring billing thingy. My account says I'm on the recurring thing (via PayPal) but it also doesn't show as being paid (yet).

Can you clarify Neil?

I got asked the same question by someone else in the last few days. They emailed me on the day they got that email; the next day (or perhaps the day after) the payment went thru on PayPal but i'm unsure if that was automatic or not (tho it looks more likely to have been automatic).

Feel free to respond in whatever way you prefer. If I end up getting paid twice by anyone I'll of course be happy to refund the extra.

Really meant to do this a long time ago, but this thread served as a reminder and had a bit spare cash so subscribed.

Keep up the excellent work Neil

I found it easier to get on the site on T-day than ever before. I was able to refresh the main thread - if not at will - at least often enough to keep up to date. Particularly reassuring during that first half hour when I'd otherwise have assumed everyone else was hoovering up the tickets while I alone couldn't get past See's holding page. Just luck, I guess, Neil ;)
