Was it you that said their chances of being major festival headliners now look very small?

I might agree with you now! Maybe this 2 year blackout hurt their size a bit...

I don't think I've ever said that before :P

I'm leaning that way now though. These aren't really the slots to be playing if they want to be playing if they're looking to headline majors off this album over the next couple of years.

Doesn't completely rule out the possibility of them doing it next year, of course, but I'd have thought it would be better to sub 1/2 this year then take the bump up next year from someone on an exclusive.

Have to see what else they get announced for.

I don't think it was ever immediately likely but their chances of headlining major fests pretty much went out the window last month when they were announced as headlining Sound City, and their chances of headlining Bestival probably went out the window tonight. I wouldn't think there's ever a future chance of them doing it now.

don't know if anyones already said it but does Vaccines playing Kendal rule them out of R/L

No. Elbow are the only ones with a prestigious Northern festival exclusive tag.

Are people suggesting that bands can only headline smaller festivals on the way down rather than the way up? I'd disagree. It worked fine for Bumfords. Headlining Kendal will do them no harm whatsoever IMNSHO. Unless they fuck it up of course.

I kinda thought Rock Ness (I assume you're talking about that) was one bands do on their way up and Kendal was one on their way down because I'm guessing it's a bit of a younger crowd or something. Might be nonsense though.

I think what people are saying is that they expect The Vaccines to be pushing towards an R&L headline slot by subbing this year, and the slots they've announced so far (and the number of them) don't really tie in with a band in that situation.

Nothing wrong with it, other than some will see it is a failure on their part and another thing to mock them about, but if it's a conscious decision to do this rather than pledging allegiance/exclusivity to FR while working their way up the R&L bill then that's their call.

30stm are a complete joke of a band now. I reckon jared should break it up and continue acting since that's what he's good at.

No way would they break up, they've been through so much, fought with their record label after the label tried to sue them for £30 million, to break up would mean years of court battles for nothing (hence their album being called This is War)

Nowt to do with mocking. I never bought that they were that big in the first place. Don't think it means that they won't get there at some point. Look how long it too Biffy Clyro to eventually become main festival headliners.

Takes a number one album, which, correct me if i'm wrong, the Vaccines don't have

    • I think people that used to be able to do a lot of gigs have had to be more picky and make a decision rather than going to most of what they’d have been able to previously. The prices are just crazy now and if you add in spending money, transport & a potential hotel, all of which has gotten more expensive unless it’s a local gig or smaller independent venue it becomes holiday money. Even if your local and it’s an arena gig it could be higher than a days pay for some.
