I wasn't saying that as they subbed download they'll headline reading, I just misunderstood chavmeisterdeluxe's point and though he was saying they won't sub as they played download last year and showed how r+l don't care about that. I didn't realise he specifically meant sub to linkin park

Regarding the Smashing Pumpkins, I really can't see them being booked. Unfortunate as it is, Reading just seems to be moving in a different direction now. Queens were brilliant last year but their crowd was small. Smashing Pumpkins are similar in the sense that they aren't shoved in the faces of teenagers today on MTV, Radio 1 etc. and as a result it might mean a lot of money is spent on booking an act that the general audience isn't so interested in.

'Do a Pixies'? They've never headlined T, and they've never headlined the second stage at R&L.

I was going to post the same thing but I think they meant headline a festival (R&L) and then move onto headlining the 2nd stage (T) at festival in general rather than those specific two.

Going back to the earlier discussion about festivals around R+L; it seems that FR (and partners) are moving the Berlin Festival to May to make way for a Berlin edition of Lollapalooza in September. If it's anything like its American counterparts then that should be good for the pool of acts R+L can get. Not really very interesting news but it might become so.

Definitely be good for R&L in terms of how many bands will be nearby. Is this Berlin Lola definitely set in stone?

It hasn't got like a website or tickets or anything one would consider official yet, I don't believe, but it seems like it's going that way and Melvin said something alluding to a big European festival that FR would be involved with not long ago. It could easily be the case that they just use the name and it's nothing like the size or array of top acts though. Kinda like Rock in Rio in Portugal.

Muse announced in Germany for a festival at the end of May. Can they come back in Europe mid-august? (Sziget, Pukkelpop, Lowlands, R&L, Rock en Seine...)?

They're from Europe anyway so it's not really a problem

EDIT- oh he might live in America now idk. Muse Will will know

    • Policing is very relaxed, provided you stay within your lines I'd say. I don't think we're supposed to have an event shelter as well as a tent next to our van, but we've done it without issue for years. It's a happy vibe up there.
    • Do feel a lot more cynical about the Mercury now. Given the awards show is now an arena event, there's clearly a pressure on them to nominate mainstream acts in order to sell tickets for it. And not saying that Jade and Knats don't deserve to be nominated (haven't listened to either), but the fact the event is in Newcastle can't have nothing to do with that... (not to mention Fender winning last year, which frankly was a joke)    Hard not to agree with this: https://www.clashmusic.com/features/this-years-mercury-prize-is-a-pivot-towards-the-mainstream/
