Metallica is probably a decent shout now, to be fair. Dunno about them AND Linkin Park. Would alienate the crowd a fair bit plus didn't that already happen?

And Melvin said he didn't think it was that big a pair of bookings when Soni did it in its first year. Not that Melvin's trashtalk means owt.

To be fair, out of the options it could end up okay for me in terms of headliners.

If Muse were to play then obviously that'd be grand (doubt it though).

RHCP or Metallica - great, would love it.

Prodigy or Libertines - not too fussed but would probably see either and enjoy them.

So yeah RHCP, Metallica and one of the others and it'd be a good set for me.

Throw in Linkin Park and I'll sit inside expressing my disdain for Melvin Benn on an internet forum.

Yeah, but it sounded shit and outdated then.

It was one of those albums released if I remember correctly around the same time as Infest, Chocolate Starfish & one of the Korn albums that exploded all over at school.

Meteora is amazing. Everything after I haven't been bothered by except the Collison Course album.

I don't think anyone cares for them that much any more, they aren't legendary status, but have headlined DL, but R&Ls looking to shift tickets so might not be on their immediate radar.

I do actually recognise that nu-metal was hugely successful at the turn of the century, but I just wish it had been left then.

Glastonbury: Florence and the Machine, Foo Fighters, Taylor Swift

R&L: Linkin Park, The Libertines, Red Hot Chili Peppers

TITP: The Libertines, Florence and the Machine, Kasabian

V: Rihanna, Kasabian

IOW: The Prodigy, The Who, Muse

Download: Slipknot, ???, ???

Soni: Motley Crüe, KISS, Muse

Thoughts?

Dunno about DL - no idea who their "new" headliner could be.

Considered Prodigy and Libs other way round for R&L and IOW but new headliner and all that.

It's too much excitement. Reading wildly inaccurate guesses based on no factual information whatsoever that reference non-existent patterns for one festival makes it hard enough to tear myself away from this place, when it's for multiple festivals it's just too much. And I know making a prediction for a festival that only includes one headliner seems silly, but I don't think it devalues it at all. I mean it's not as if a couple of random names could have been chucked in there, it would definitely have looked out of place compared to the logical and likely names in the other predictions.

But a prediction doesn't need factual information behind it- it can just be a stab in the dark. And its not like Will's gonna do a Gazza and come back and claim he had foreknowledge all along if any of his predictions were right. I think its just a way of him saying "this is what would be good" which to be fair is a damn sight better than when Matt gets an idea in his head and continues to repeat said idea until someone replies.

Very true. I was just being flippant over the 'Dunno/I have no idea about Download' comment - he has no idea about any of them - and again the preposterous references to non-existent patterns.

Will, I apologise, you are not as bad as Matt.

Actually I only mentioned the new headliner thing because every time I predict R&L without one we get a massive boring debate about how there'll definitely be one and whether The Prodigy would count as one; not because I believe in patterns.

    • Sure enough I did finish the Brosnan Bonds. Goldeneye is good but I think might be overrated by some Bond mega-fans, The World Is Not Enough is ok but nothing more than that and Die Another Day is just wild. I didn't hate Die Another Day like some have but its basically a wacky sci-fi film with Bond movie clothes.
    • Monaco comes across to me as something that's great for just watching people driving around, especially this year as it feels like this is a track where they can actually push compared to other circuits where superclipping ruins it, but where the cars seem to have outgrown it.   Though tbf Formula E has had decent Monaco races recently so maybe its a sign of car development philosophy being a factor.
    • Feel like a lot of people do just sit around by the stage at a festival waiting for one act anyway, no? I know Swift has a big mega-fandom - she wouldn't have done so many Wembley shows last year if she didn't - but it's not like she'd be unique in playing a festival and drawing a crowd on that specific day just for her.   But then tbf I feel like there'd be a few happy just to mosy around the rest of the site until maybe 2/3 acts beforehand.
    • Pretty good imo. Though I'm aware my position of being a big fan means I'm biased.   Reminds me a little of Justice, which shouldn't be that much of a surprise given I've heard Justice played a lot in Muse's pre-show playlists over the years.
