Lineup 2015

That seems like conjecture to me

Potentially, but maybe they don't see R&L as appealing as some bands might.

I think the majority said 'shit but it'll sell'.

Er, did they? 2011 and 2012 would have been prime for R+L to throw cash at them to play high up. They didn't. I'm assuming that's because people at R+L's mums started listening to them. I'm confident it'd go down like a bag of shit if they headlined R+L, whereas they'd fit in fine at V and IOW.

In both 2011 and 2013 they've toured europe/Uk early summer and chosen Glastonbury

don't think they were in a position to play at all in 2012, probably knew the new album was gonna bring big things for them and wanted to tour after it was released (in which they did).

I don't think this is a R/L "not booking them because they aren't relevant" thing. I just think they are a band which choose bigger shows if they are offered bigger shows.

2011 doesn't really count as 'choosing Glasto over Reading' when they only subbed the second stage, at a festival that doesn't do exclusivity. They were huge then. Would have been a coup to book them that year when R+L was failing pretty bad.

Fair point, however I don't think we can place it down to "reading doesn't want them". Even if that was the case after seeing their size and how well they sell tickets. Reading probably wants them now, hence why they are potentially lined up for 2015.

It's just a theory, as with most of the stuff that gets said here. I don't think you can say they want them because they're a rumour on here though.

Mumford wouldn't surprise me at all. Wasn't sure whether they'd be back next Summer but if they are then they'll probably headline V/IOW/R&L.

I don't think The Vaccines would headline. Again, if they're back next Summer, they'd be a very suitable sub for Mumford.

Linkin Park, Mumford and Sons, RHCP (or any big rock band) seems a fairly standard set, even though it's pretty abysmal.

That wouldn't be strong at all.

Linkin Park aren't a big headliner; people have even touted them as a non-headliner before (although obvs that wouldn't happen).

Mumford are an average sized headliner. I don't think they'll sell as much on their return from hiatus.

Prodigy are a small headliner, again touted as a non-headliner.

Two weak headliners and an average headliner doesn't make a strong set. It'd probably similar in strength to if this year was QOTSA/Paramore/AM.

Just coming to gloat I was one of those who always said Mumford would be a reading candidate when they return. And I touted Linkin park to come back. I'm basically god.

There is only one God, and yet many many people have mentioned Mumford and Linkin Park. You're nothing special.

    • They'll get Foo Fighters as well.
    • That as a surprise along with The Cure is the best part of the lineup so far.   Probably means though she's about next year again.
    • I also dont think Deftones will tour next year.   But I think RIP will have both Foos and Blink and if SOAD fo festivals that will be your 3.
    • Bearing in mind the Maiden point could just be nothing. They should also get Sabaton on second bit if i was them with their stage show I wouldn't take it. It would have to be headline due to how Download program and they won't
    • Nothing wrong about the lineup, which has been great over the last few years. But it just doesn't balance out my experience anymore.   Also, there seems to be a shift in the festival to cater towards US clients? This year felt like a 'cool' version of Coachella for some reason but I can't quite put my finger on what it is.   Maybe I'm just getting old.    Many locals get in for free either via friends of the organisation or just plainly using the QR codes multiple times. I had a chat with many of them over the weekend. They told me it is a 'thing' among locals. You just don't pay Primavera Sound
