What are Real Estate like? Someone asked me to go see them and I said I was going to see British Sea Power instead and then didn't go to see British Sea Power.

They look like the kind of c**ts that kaosmark likes and sound like the kind of c**ts that kaosmark likes.

Good description, but I don't actually like them.

I know Real Estate because they're one of those thousands of bands I've heard of and never listened to which FloorFiller likes. I assume they all sound the same. The Antlers, Real Estate, Band of Horses before I listened to them, etc.

I can't think of many examples at the moment but I see a thread named after one of these many bands and think "I bet FloorFiller likes them" and I'm always right.

Basically Pitchfork bands I think.

Not even a compliment/insult towards him but it's just something I notice all the time.

Both The Antlers and Real Estate I find slightly dull. I listen to them and feel like I must be missing something about the music because it just sounds like a vaguely monotonous version of the sort of c**ts I like. Maybe one day I'll play one of their albums on a whim and realise I actually love them. Like Wilco, I spent about 5 years having a Wilco album in my collection which I just thought was alright and then I played it about a year ago and adored it and bought more.

I like to think the first few times someone says something stupid we react with an educating, informative hand to gently correct them.

If someone's said 6554* stupid things however, then we tend to be more mocking than guiding.

*nb. This number has some relevance

Is that someone's post count? I just checked Gazza, Thewayiam, Yellowmore and Matt42's but it didn't match their counts.

    • Plenty of good stuff this month. Very difficult choice, but I'm going with some of those I've listened to most (the sunny weather may also have been influential)...   1. The Coral - 388 2. Kurt Vile - Philadelphia's Been Good to Me 3. The Lemon Twigs - Look For Your Mind!   Others I've been enjoying... Laurie Anderson's live album, Broken Social Scene, Pigeon, The Black Keys, etc
    • Yesterday was was Primavera is all about and a reminder of why I come back every year. I saw 9 acts, very diverse in terms of genre and vibe, and most of them were great.  Highlights:   The Cure - have wanted to see them for years. Finally caught them and it was immaculate. Robert Smith's vocals at his age are incredible. The band sounded exactly like the albums which is impressive. 2.5 hours with basically no filler somehow.  Viagra Boys - what a front man! So much energy. Non stop moshing. Sound was great, vibe was top notch. Again 10/10 for me.  Rilo Kiley - basically what pipan said. Not a huge crowd but nice vibe, good sound. Different from the other acts I saw.   I also enjoyed the late night electronic stuff with Aurora Halal and KI/KI being fun. Caught some of Skrillex before Aurora Halal and it was cool in it's own way but not really my thing so we left.
