I have been going to Glastonbury since 95, and for some reason this has never bothered me.........What is the difference between TBA and special guests. I think I have just gone thick and it is a simple answer but all suggestions greatly appreciated

TBA isn't necessarily anything special, just a placesaver on the line-up to let you know there's something else coming.

Billing someone as 'special guests' does suggest that it's something to get excited about, although that depends on your definition of 'special'.

i don't know if i'm making this up but i was always under the impression that a band being a Special Guest gave them a sort of loophole to escape their exclusivity deal. could be total bullshit and i have no grounds to base this on... it'd just always struck me as okay

what band(s) do you have in mind?

Much as I'd love it, I'm not sure The National have the popular appeal to pull special guests off. Too many (mistaken) people would be very non-plussed.

Even before the radiohead/Pulp debacle special guests were very popular up coming acts such as Biffy Clyro, popular acts' side projects such as Last Shadow Puppets or Dead Weather or inexplicable flash-in-the-pan acts like the Klaxons.
