2007 must have had a fairly negative build up as I was super prepared for the washout we got. Come to think of it so was the Glasto Virgin we took along with us, so we must have had a bit of a heads up.

I seem to remember the build up to 2011 being pretty bad as it rained consistently for the couple of weeks before the fest, churning it all up good and proper even before we got there. Tipping it down on the Wednesday morning was the crowning fly on the turd.

Still couldn't believe how quickly it dried out on Saturday though

I remember this as well. I recall watching the Worthy TV videos of the festival site in the week before the festival gates opened, and there were already quite a few muddy arrears then, where the site traffic had churned up the paths

Not too bothered about lower temperatures if its sunny- 17-20 degrees seems a lot warmer when you're out in a field (not sure why, maybe something to do with humidity).

However, what worries me is the combination of cool temperatures and r**n. As bad as 2007 was, it was at least reasonably warm. On the Monday the temperature dropped significantly, and I remember shivering away in the queue for the bus- hellish! Remember thinking we dodged a bullet there.

All this focus on r**n may lead to us being punished with cold!

My weather memory from recent Glastos:

2007 - heavy rain most of the weekend

2008 - mixed weather, rained hard thurs night and fri morning, and on/off for the rest of the day. Can't remember much from Saturday, but Sunday was warm and sunny

2009 - warm and sunny most of the weekend, but lots of showers.

2010 - heatwave

2011 - shit weather until friday night then stayed warm and sunny

I don't want a heatwave again - 2010 was unbearable at times. Just blue skies, and sun will be fine with me (although 2007 was one of my best Glastos ever; once you know the rain won't stop, you just go with the flow and make the most of the weekend regardless).

This year is my return to Glastonbury, albeit in a campervan, following the horrors of 2005 and 2007.

I know, I know it's about what you make it but it was just so difficult in 2007 and by Sunday night, I saw lots of broken people and not because of drink and drugs; if anything, the conditions made some too timid to push those boats out.

I believe I am due some good weather and have something of my own mantra going on this...

At least it looks like it will be dry in the run up to the festival....2011 was doomed from the start as it had been raining pretty consistently in the lead up, and once that rain on the weds morning had chucked down it was a quagmire even before the first night was out!

In all fairness the guy while perfectly nice and well-meaning is a bit of a helmet as he's clearly only been a couple of times at best and then puts himself head-and-body above the parapet for a moon.

You have to have lived through a mud-year to know the warning signs and they were everywhere. Generally the weather has been better behaved in the run up, but there's still potential for enough wet around to make some mess. Would be a right turn around to reach the sodden depths of before from here though *jinx*

There's gonna be a bad patch of rain at some point, I can feel it. Cloudy today, bits of rain tonight forecast in Brizzle. Desperately hoping we can get a massive spell of rain out of the way this week, maybe even start of next week. Will give the ground time to recover, and it means that the inevitable 'wet June' is over.

Not sure it works like that, but I'll take it.
