Drove past the site yesterday, beautiful clear sky andsunset across the Somerset levels . Perfect conditions in the south west today with blue skys and slight breeze. My predictions would be a bit of rain next week followed by a ramp up in temperature over the next two weeks! Problem is I know fuck all about the weather!

I don't mean loads of but when the strobe lights illuminate the rain it can be pretty theatrical/atmospheric. Only a couple of light showers. Plus the rain is what makes the Glasto atmosphere so unique (not that I want it).

I'm predicting a cool cloudy morning on the Wednesday, to give us all a chance to transport all our stuff from our cars and set up camp without getting all hot and sweaty. Then the clouds will burn off at about midday, and it will remain gloriously hot and sunny for the rest of the festival.

We are nearly at the day where the festival will be coming up in the 14 day forecast... Getting nervous!! That's when I will become obsessed with checking it every hour for changes!

The Met Office long range (updated yesterday) isn't particularly positive, but still so long to go - seem to remember they were way off in 2010?

Also, no monsoon-like conditions being forecast anywhere, which is definitely good!

UK Outlook for Monday 24 Jun 2013 to Monday 8 Jul 2013:

Indications currently show that the weather is likely to be rather changeable through the end of June and early part of July, with westerly winds allowing weather systems to push in from the Atlantic, bringing spells of r**n at times. Southern areas look likely to become a little less unsettled later in the period. Temperatures are likely to be a little below average for the time of year, especially in western parts, whereas r**nfall amounts look to be close to average in most places.

Remember that talk of average or near average conditions for June isn't that negative. Average temperatures for June in Sommerset are around the high teens early 20s (high) and 6-7 (low) ( measured in the shade). Average rainfall for the month is around the 200mm mark which if averaged for the 5 days of the festival is around 33mm 60mm mark which if averaged for the 5 days of the festival is around 10mm and that is not enough for mudbath conditions.

Edited due to looking at the wrong data table.

    • Aren't they against touring?
    • If my memory serves me right, it was the other way round - when PS 2022 lineup was released it was already confirmed that she plays Barcelona in May.
    • Cheers! And yep looks identical to Green day's scheduling
    • Reading all the feedback with interest.  If there are now 75,000 tickets officially sold, plus who knows how many more people blagging in - then on the Friday evening and Saturday in particular, it's not ridiculous to suggest there's 50,000 people at Mordor, which is a stadium gig - except with much worse sight lines, an inferior PA, and far less bars and toilets. The Thursday evening in 2022 was of course infamous but on the Friday night for Beck I was trapped about 150m from the stage, surrounded by chatters, and with no prospect of getting nearer the stage.  With hindsight that was when I realised the fest had one way or another fundamentally changed.  Also noting on Reddit that some folk didn't enjoy the Cure or Gorillaz because the sets were "too long".  In future bands may be better received if they actually just play their top 10 Spotify songs then get back off the stage.
