Thank you Big Vern. It's nice to know I'm not alone on this matter. I'm not normally prone to wanting someone to experience pain, but as I write I am toying with the idea of making a Corden voodoo doll. If anybody has any suggestions as to what to do with the doll then please feel free to post them. The brits used to be pretty much main stream, so far mumford and sons have won an award, PlanB has showcased his illmanors soundtrack and James corden has interviewed a foo fighter. Edit to add that muse opened the show I think not sure who they are if I am honest

So am I right in guessing that all the snobby music people on here wont want to see the likes of the above on a glastonbury stage any time soon?

Will it be ok to see the likes of ollymurs and ben howard (no idea who he is) gracing the stage of the festival in years to come

Used to watch Ben Howard play tiny venues when at Plym Uni. So chuffed for him.

Erm....The Brits have always had a mix of different genres of mainstreamish alt. acts to give it at least some credibility, this is nothing new.

Olly Murs is still shit but I am sure he will be welcomed by the Eavis/fans of his(Will Young has done it a few times hasn't he? or least been around to do secret sets for BBC ). However the utter abomination that is one fucking direction can stay the fuck away.

Best thing was seeing Ben Howard picking up some recognition tonight, but they have to give some awards to someone its going increase sales by significant amount.

Do One Direction do festivals? they really don't need the exposure, they've never played festivals before (as far as i'm aware) why would they start?

The only reason they'd play is if they didn't get a ticket in October and wanted a free one.

Honestly, I thought the Brit Awards are way more mainstream now then they ever used to be. Muse, Foo Fighters and Mumford are not really alternative acts in the same way as Arcade Fire, The Cure, Nick Cave, Morrissey etc.

That was my take on it too. NME are giving their lifetime achievement award to The Cribs this year FFS.

I love The Cribs but come on (...unless this is just me getting old?)
