Headliner guesses

If there is one band to get festival goers to buy tickets, it must be Arcade Fire. If you have booked them, then I would have thought you would want to announce it as soon as possible to get all the waiverers to get tickets before other festivals announce their line-up. Unless they are not allowed to, I would definitely would have announced all 3 of those headliners at once, I would have thought it would almost guarantee a quick sell out before other festivals had they announce those 3 headliners

Of course this assumes Arcade Fire are the third headliner. I suspect we wont hear from BField again!

In his interview with efestivals, Rob said he wanted to announce all 3 headliners at once this year. The fact that he hasn't either means he hasn't confirmed the 3rd headliner (that's why Björk wasn't announced until much later in 2011), or he's not allowed to announce them yet for contractual reasons (that's why Florence + the Machine weren't announced until much later in 2012).

If the 3rd headliner hasn't been confirmed, then this BField character is (possibly) talking out of his/her arse.

If the 3rd headliner has been confirmed but can't be announced yet, then let's see....

- Arcade Fire want to announce their comeback themselves before any festivals let slip that they're playing;

- Yeah Yeah Yeahs or Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds want to put their UK tour on sale for a while before letting any festivals announce them.

- Something/someone I haven't thought of.

I dont understand why people think there is a 'no repeat headliner' rule. Bestival started out as a festival for 10,000 people and 10 years have gone since. With the festival now attracting bigger acts as its grown why would there be a repeat headliner in that time?

RDB seems a bit more inventive than Melvin Benn at Reading for instance, which is probably another reason, but there is no non repeat headliner rule.

it must be someone quite big since Flaming Lips have previously headlined, yet have returned to non headliner status.

Do we think they will be in the big top? Apparently the Knife are "headlinging a stage" according to brille records on facebook (their label) so thats one big top headliner confirmed.

I wonder if the first 4 acts after Elton John & Snoop on the poster are the Big Top headliners: M.I.A., Franz Ferdinand, The Flaming Lips, The Knife. Perhaps with The Flaming Lips headlining the "Bestival Classics Party" on the Thursday, and M.I.A. headlining Annie Mac Presents.

Can't imagine Flaming Lips in the big top, unless they really make it bigger, which I think they need to after Justice/Ben Howard, etc last year.

Before Elton John would be nice. I reaaaally want to see them, and Bestival is the perfect place to.

I don't think Elton and Snoop would be too expensive really, I could be wrong though.

As for Arcade Fire, I find it highly unlikely they'll play but if they do I don't know if it would cost a huge amount to book them although do they not have give a portion of their earnings to charities in Haiti?
