They headlined a load of EU fests last year

Yeah pretty much, they headlined roskilde this year.

Thanks for notifying me. Didn't know a lot about other EU festivals last year.

Is it fair to say now we know our headliners?

Or is it too early...

I think it's fair to say. But don't be sure until the actual announcements.

If they haven't been approached yet I'd say it's unlikely they'll end up playing. Just my opinion though.

You might well be right. I got a friend to speak to Billy from The Subways about playing R&L a few years back just before Xmas & he said they were likely to play but they ended up not getting booked.

Still gonna be sceptical, to learn from past mistakes :P

So let's get the ball rolling, sub headliners/lower bands anyone? :D

Anyone predicting hard-rock sub-headliner like this year (SOAD under Green Day)?

I just don't want whole Blink-182 day to be another pop-punk disaster.

Slipknot. One can hope.

Didn't Haley in an interview recently say she has plans for the future that don't involve paramore? Maybe they are playing on a farewell tour? Might justify the bump abit more..

No idea really. I don't really begrudge them headlining and I fell they've already justified it, I just think the coheadliners are a massively stupid booking from FR.

I think FR have always wanted to book them as headliners, nows the time I guess... They can't have them both on separate days so in a way it's genius for FR.

Must say though, in terms of co headliners next to headliners blink, arctic monkeys and queens/paramore is a lot stronger than mcr, the strokes/pulp, muse.

Same here.

I disagree.

I also disagree.

Muse = European Stadium Band plus doing OoS (I will forever regret not going to see this.)

MCR = Established Arena Band

Pulp/Strokes = Pulp was a great choice could have it done alone if they had been exclusive, the strokes have no business pretending they can headline festivals still.

Arctic Monkeys = Arena/Occasional big outdoor show band

Blink 182 = Arena Band but might not sell as well now they have lost "reunion hype"

QoSTA/Paramore = Both just about arena bands (neither sold all their arena tour to capacity did they?) but one has a fan base made up of 13 year old girls and the older men/women who believe they are 13 year old girls.

So your "argument" actually comes down to

Waaahhhh I don't like Paramore, all their fans are stinky yucky girls and I hate girls!!

I can literally see the lineup being something along the lines of;

Queens of the Stone Age

Paramore

Vampire Weekend

The 1975

Blink 182

You Me At Six

Weezer

Franz Ferdinand

Arctic Monkeys

Foals

Two Door Cinema Club

Disclosure

Now how underwhelming and aweful would that be? Yes theres bands I like there but no wow factor at all, I like Foals but subbing no. Queens, VW and Weezer would be brilliant but nothing out the ordinary or shocking.

    • Cool, if potentially completely exhausting, idea.
    • We don't have any choice but I don't need a t-shirt for it! 🙂    On the bright side, it gets it out of the way for a nice 5 year run... notwithstanding wars, new contagious diseases and apocalypse.
