http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/red-hot-chili-peppers/2007/little-johns-farm-reading-england-5bd38f38.html How you can called that setlist bad, I'll never know. Pissing about with jams is cool, and RHCP are a funky band so I wouldn't expect anything less-it just adds to the performance, otherwise their set would sound like it's come straight off the record. When I see a band live, personally, I want it to sound a bit different from the record. Whilst I'd agree that it's shit when bands don't put the effort in; I don't see anything wrong with their 2007 performance- apart from the sound being bloody awful. But that's not their fault and might explain why it sounds bad. One of my mates saw them last year with Dizzee Rascal supporting and said it was amazing, so they've probably worked on their live performance. And it sold out. I think they'd be a great booking.

Wasn't there! I'm just saying it didn't look as bad as people make it out to be, whether that's because of editing I don't know. Anyway, I'd prefer to have RATM, Linkin Park or The Who. But I'm just saying I'd pick RHCP over the likes of mumford & sons anyday.

Rhcp aren't bad live, in fact, they used to be one of the greats. But reading was particularly awful. I forgot how bad the setlist was til someone brought it up, but look at that - 7 off SA, 5 of Cali, 3 of BTW, and give it away. Baring in mins SA was a particularly bad album and they weren't even the best off of californication, that's a bit much. Nowadays they usually play higher ground as well as 3 from BSSM and 1 or 2 off SA. Much better in my mind

I don't think RHCP were abysmal in 2007 like people say they were, they were just disappointing, especially for a band who I grew up with. They're of the same magnitude as Metallica, Radiohead, Foo Fighters, Muse, etc, all of whom are renowned for their incredible live shows but RHCP just lacked the enthusiasm of those bands and it felt a bit anti-climatic.

Oh, and they didn't play Scar Tissue at Leeds. <_<

Still, anyone who says it was the worst ever headline set in the festival's history clearly weren't at Arctic Monkeys in 2009. Now that was a shocker.

I saw RHCP in 07 and i wouldn't say it was bad, just not as great as I expected. I was pretty young at the time and they were my favourite band so just seeing them was amazing for me. Was very disappointed they didn't play Under The Bridge as were the whole crowd.

Yeah, Kings Of Leon were dire in 2009, they got upstaged by Kaiser Chiefs of all bands, and they spent half the set moaning about how bad the Reading crowd were a few nights before, whilst kissing the arse of the Leeds crowd in the most insincere manner. Plus the way they'd play their older songs slowed down. Not as bad as Arctic Monkeys were, but still bad.

Radiohead that year though.

All three headliners I saw in 2008 (Metallica, RATM, Manics) were just incredible.

This is what I don't understand, if Melvin was so appauled at the chilis, why is he not at the arctics? Arctics were horrendous andnchilis made me embarrassed to have hyped about them, but they are both still massive bands and would still get booked. Massive off days for them both I reckon
