Now that's a band I've never gotten into. I've not tried properly yet though. I've been meaning to give The Suburbs a proper listen some time. I just haven't got the time at the moment while I'm spending all my time discovering the bands playing R&L and revising for 16 exams in the Summer. :(

You think you've got it bad? I've got 15 A level exams (including 9 maths) in the summer and I still need to find the time to properly get into The Cure (which is difficult enough as it is with 13 albums :P.

yer I think they're planning a special gig in September (something like Teignmouth again) and then an Arena tour November/December.

I'd guess at V fest and IOW next year as well. It's definitely going to be one or the other if they play fests :P.

I was never more upset to hear New Born at Leeds last year, I honestly thought it would be Dead Star with the Tom Waits intro :(

I've never been able to get properly into Radiohead :/ I like a few of their songs, around 10/12, but I just cant sit and listen to them for an extended period of time. Otherwise I find myself questioning my existence too much... Just joking :P but I do find them very, not boring or dull, that's the wrong word, just, sort of drab? I don't mean any offence to them because I realise they are very, very good at what they do, but what they do just isn't something that appeals to me very much :/

Same, I just can't get into them. Most bands i like have a few slower songs, which I like, but everything Radiohead do is just a bit too 'blaah' for me, I can't listen to music like that a lot, it does bore me.

Another thing that gets me is when people say listen to their albums quite a few times, try and get into them and you will end up liking them. The way I see it is, why try and force yourself into liking something? If i buy a cd and don't like it after a few listens, then I dont like it. I obviously dont actually like them if I've had to force myself to.

Cos you appreciate it more if you have to try, same as with anything.

Arcade Fire are one of my favourite bands now but before they were announced for Leeds I'd only briefly listened to them and was planning on seeing Pendulum. This has been the case with so many of my favourite bands, and it's the difference between a catchy tune and an actual piece of quality music.

I can understand what people mean about Radiohead being depressing to be honest, especially if they've only heard the likes of Karma Police.

However, they do have a lot of upbeat, rock-orientated music. Check out 2+2=5 for example, one of my favourites. :) It shows another side to their music.

That's your opinion dude, that's cool. But I do get what you mean to an extent, I had to listen to Humbug by Arctic Monkeys quite a bit before i could really appreciate it. But that approach just doesn't work all the time for me.

I'm another one who has struggled to get into Radiohead. I've tried listening to their albums on Spotify but they just don't seem to 'click' with me. I'm also a big Muse fan too. It was one of the main reasons I went to Reading last year! The performance was awesome. For Arcade Fire recommendations, they are definitely an albums band. As someone before said, start with 'Funeral' and give it a few listens all the way through.

After I can tick off The Cure at Reading this year, Pearl Jam are one of the only band that i still want to see live but i couldn't travel to London or Manchester for their gigs in the summer so i'm hoping for another festival performance next year but i'm struggling to think of somewhere except for HRC where they would play.

I'm not sure that they would be booked for Reading again with the festival struggling to sell out and Melvin saying that he is targeting the younger generation or something like that. I guess they could be a Sonisphere or Download next year but I'm not sure they would fit that well.

Re: Radiohead- They'd fit in well at Bestival- although I imagine Rob hasn't quite made that big enough just yet, perhaps in a couple of years?

Bjork- I'd go see her, but I can't see her shifting many R&L tickets...

Well since Radiohead we've head Arcade Fire, Pulp, The Strokes and The Cure headline. Can't see why Radiohead wouldn't fit again. But I doubt they'll ever play again. That was a very special moment. If they do, I don't expect it'll be for a very very long time. 10+ years. But by that time the whole festival circuit could have been crushed under its own weight and R/L would be no more :P
