well I would strongly disagree with your belief that the likes of oasis or lady gaga will ever be remembered as legendary. I think a modicom of lyrical ability and originality are required to attain legendary status!

We are unlucky enough to be around in the worst musical period for decades. We cant polish the turds that are currently making music and pretend that in 30 years someone like noel gallagher will in fact be considered as genius as leonard cohen for example!

Embrace the mediocrity.

I seem to remember there being quite a bit of commentary at the end of the 80s about what a shit decade it had been for music.

To some extent they had a point but not from where I was standing. It's probably an age thing but I was between 13 and 23 during the 80s so it was I suppose 'my decade' musically.

Having said all that, there was some truly shocking stuff. Particularly anything that cropped up on The Hitman and Her.

And now its back. Have you seen that SAW Festival that's on this year? Sweet Baby Jebus save us!

Yeah, couldn't give two shits if they played. Tyler is a disgrace. Lost all cred for that stunt. Recent shows have been fairly shambolic too by all accounts.

Sure they could go whack out a reasonable greatest hits sing along set interspersed with some crap from their new album, but fairly sure they would just post it in and it would be a pile of shite.

No where near headlining material in my book

I saw them at the marquee club in 1990. Jimmy Page jammed Immigrant Song and Train Kept on Rollin with them. It was immense. Pump is my favourite album of theirs after the reunion.

thinking about it. noel subbing the roses one day looks inevitable. sounds like it worked very well at T and listening to noel now at T who was good you can see why.

i don't think he'll take other stage headline, that'll put him below technically where he can been playing this year and by then new songs will probably be known. willing to almost call the vaccines below him too.

i did think plan b below the roses but change of mind, but i do think plan b will sub one day, could easily sub to GaGa to be honest.

it'd be most un-Glasto-like to have two bands/artists at the top of the bill with the same kind of audience. they normally mix it up a bit.

by the way, when is Noel's album with Amorphous Androgynous due out? i thought it'd have surfaced by now. if it's as experimental as he was hinting then maybe a late night secret gig in Shangri La would be more likely!

    • Absolutely love her record, System. Definitely an album that rewards a bit of commitment.   She's right on my must-see list. Hoping she's in the Walled Garden, as I think her sound might be a bit muddy if she's early-ish in Far Out.   Ben
    • Same here, I kept trying to go on A View From My Seat to see if each block was worth it. So vague!
    • Ok, I’ve had time to process the experience now, so here is my review.   The good Barcelona - what a beautiful place! What lovely people! The city was like another headliner. Stayed in El Poblenou, and the bars, cafes and restaurants were perfect. Avalanches - Absolutely spectacular, euphoric set. Fantastic stage. Possibly enhanced by substances that I timed right, for a change. Added bonus that I don’t really remember the queue. The Cure - I’ve been a fan for 34 years, and never got round to seeing them, so this was a dream come true. The XX - The sound was exceptional. The lights and setlist perfect, giving each member their moment. Was really loud where I was standing (between the front and the sound desk), but i didn’t notice any chatters - even during the quieter moments. Also loved Men I Trust, .bd. , Big Thief, NewDad and Gorillaz. The food within Parc Del Fòrum was also a lot better than I was expecting.   The bad People talking non-stop throughout some of the sets, and shouting to be heard over the music. I had to move 3 times during Wet Leg just to be able to hear the band over the crowd. It’s probably an age thing, but I just don’t understand it. You’ve paid how much to watch these acts, and now you’re standing with your back to the stage, missing the music and ruining the experience for everyone else? Odd behaviour.   The weather apocalypse on Thursday. I genuinely thought I would be able to tough it out. I couldn’t. Left after Geese. The lack of communication from Primavera didn’t help.   Whilst it was lovely to be by the sea, and the sunsets were very pretty, the site is a bit…concrete-y, isn’t it? I kind of longed for some grass and trees. Often found ourselves standing on the steps by the Adidas yard by some bamboo. This was probably a subconscious need for some nature. The fact that some of the nature included cockroaches did not negatively affect the experience.   My daughter, for running away when she saw the drug dogs in the queue on Thursday, meaning that I lost her for the whole evening. She hid her stash under a bench, and it miraculously survived the storms.   Also, can someone explain the point in having a wristband, when you still have to show your ticket every time you enter and leave the site?   Finally, I would like to nominate myself as one of the bad things about this year’s Primabera. I should have done Primavera a lot better. It was my first one, so I’m still learning, but I think I left too early on the Thursday. Left after the Cure on Friday, so I would be full of energy on Saturday, and then barely made it to the end of Gorillaz anyway, meaning I missed Overmono, Skrillex, Skullcrusher, Kneecap, and a few more I would have liked to see.   All in all Amazing lineup. Decent food options. Cupra and Cupra Pulse stages were very impressive. Weather was perfect for 3 out of the 4 days i attended.   It was always likely to be a ‘one and done’ for me, but we had a blast, even if I am starting to get too old for all this.
    • That Wednesday Razzmatazz slot is one of the best/prime slots!
    • If they fancy chucking something together last knockings, i'm up for it! 😄 Got to get a cat sitter, but i'm 95% there
