I don't hate the guy. He seems like a genuinely pleasant chap who's always happy to take the time to chat with the people who put him where he is today.

I do, however, think that his music is a prime example of mediocrity hailed as genius. FFs have roughly five or so unstoppable bangers and a slur of average tunes that seem to be parodies of said bangers. That's my view anyway.

yup, i know I started it. was never meant to be more than a "I like dave's drumming" comment though. I have a big hand in starting this whole Grohl thing in the first place by commenting on willutalk's bizarre rant about the brits giving Grohl a bad impression of britain. For that I can only apologise, although this thread has been considerably better for the "which is the best Beatles record" and "is Dave Grohl a turd" deviations.

My contribution was that in comparison to his frontmanship (is that even a thing?) his drumming really appealed to me. He might not be Neil Peart or Thomas Pridgen or Brann Dailor but his drumming is distinctive and full of personality. Records he drums on are rarely worse off as a result. Find it amusing that people want to turn this into a pissing contest about his stick skills. The guy can play the drums better than most.

    • I too am always a bit blurred on what/who constitutes a legend slot but would Sting fit that bill?  Those there said his IoW slot was v good and he has enough of a songbook imo for a Sun afternoon if he uses the Police's 1st 2 albums for a fair chunk of it
    • Thing is, I'd have said that as well.   But then she inexplicably ended up on the Wilderness lineup and that changes everything. I reckon if that goes well, which it will, then she's very much in the picture.
    • This has probably been discussed a hundred times already on efests but what constitutes a legend? I know some of it is my age but I don't see eurithmics or Duran Duran as legend status. Neil young or nils lofgren then yes and neither of them have overly troubled the charts. Duran Duran and indeed the eurithmics I would put in the 80s category and whilst it would be ok (human league at isle of wight we're fabulous) they just arent in my mind legend status.  Zombies played same festival- i would take that.
    • friendly tonight delayed , pitch draining pretty quick to be fair .... not sure it bodes well for other games with potential fixture backlog
    • Never happen, but an Annie Lennox solo or Eurythmics reunion would make me very happy.
