even though they were one of the 'big' names at that moment, that booking always looks bizarre to me. in fact, looking over the entire 2008 lineup, it does seem to be missing something. looks like it could be any other festival rather than Glastonbury

yeah Jay Z at the time stood out quite a bit (but was seen as quite weak, along with two other fairly weak headliners) but the rest of the lineup looks pretty damn drab

i think the Stones will be counted as the 'unexpected' booking this year (even though every person and their grandmother is expecting them, they're a massive coupe, and it's a 'we FINALLY got them' ordeal). the Stones and Prince in one year would just be too good

a couple of new names have been chucked in my direction recently as being the 3rd headliner - and that's The Strokes, and Kanye.

Much like all the others, there's nothing I can put much faith in, tho there's nothing I can find to prove them wrong.

The Strokes would be an incredibly poor headliner. moreso than Mumfords in my opinion (and i hate Mumfords). Kanye would be right up my street. i'd absolutely love it. and i guess if his name is in the mix, and with Jay Z headlining Wireless the week after (and being listed as his only SOLO show as stated above) Watch The Throne could be back in the picture. not going to get my hopes up though. i'll just keep believing it's Mumfords and then when / if it's somebody better i can be overjoyed

* that all being said, i guess Kanye and The Strokes could also be Other stage headliners. pretty damn big Other stage headliners, mind

both sound more likely for Other Stage headliners.

they way both are being put to me, it's for the Pyramid .... but of course they both can't be right. It's quite possible that neither is.

That said, is a Watch the Throne (Jay Z + Kanye) show ruled out?

I though the "Exclusive Solo European show" line in the Wireless announcement might indicate Jay is doing other WTT shows this year.

the wireless press release we got said it was Jay-Z's only European appearance, which strongly suggests that Glasto can't have WTT.

But publicity agents have a habit of stretching things, so who knows.

    • Oh im sure - theres loads    but just as an observation from the film, If you have not seen it yet im sure you would love it
    • Reading seems to have sold really well this year from the posts they've made re. tickets. I don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon, I think for the vast majority in here (myself included) it just doesn't cater to us. That said, if I was still under the age of 18 I'd be thrilled with the Reading lineup this year (not so much Leeds).
    • I don't think it's that bad and still very good value. Tickets for the headliners alone make it worthwhile if you are into them.
    • Something like..   Rosalía - Beach House - Lola Young   Björk - Massive Attack - Doja Cat   NIN - Olivia Dean - David Byrne   Also.. Interpol, Slayyter, Barry B, The Promise Ring or Cap‘n Jazz (for the American Football/Voxtrot/Texas Is The Reason slot)..   ….and I hope they bring back teki latex for the cupra-closing-party. Peggy Gou was so generic
    • Yeah I get it, and totally agree.    I could post a long piece on the differences, but I reckon it would send most people over the edge
