I don't know how to feel about Rhianna possibly (or not) headlining. I guess it would have the same relevance to me as Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen in 09, Gorillaz in 10 and Coldplay and Beyonce in 11. All fantastic bookings in their own right and I didn't watch any of them. Sacrilege to some of you of course, but purely down to my musical taste and priorities on other stages at the time.

Rhianna's clearly one of the most popular acts on the planet right now but I don't necessarily think she compares to any of the acts mentioned above. There's something a bit Johnny-come-lately about her. At least Beyonce was part of a hugely successful group beforehand and Gorillaz had the whole special guest appearances thing.

If she does headline, I'd be disappointed as I think there are more deserving, available acts around. If she plays, a sub-slot at some point may be a bit more suitable.

Watching headliners is not compulsory. Last I watched was Neil Young, much more going. If you don't like Eavis choice then I'm sure he won't be bothered if you don't watch them. Seems to me his choice of headliners these days is pretty much the same as other festivals, its a merry go round of money grabbers.

I don't sideline an entire genre like you are the poster I replied to is with pop music. I'm against Mumford because they're a bunch of pretenders, cavorting about pretending to be Bob Dylan, when actually they're every bit as manufactured as Rihanna. Rihanna isn't shying away from the fact she's a manufactured pop act, and she's actually fun and isn't being given the Grammy award for best album. They're two completely different cases, so yes I can have it both ways.

even my Mrs was disappointed with the whole pre-show set up ie her entourage coming out and forcing her flags on to people in the crowd, it was just such bs.

Rihanna would just be Beyonce .2, this time handing out mobiles, with another polished vegas performance, in my opinion of course.

I don't remember sidelining anything and you've lost me with the Grammy reference. Are you saying if a band / act is given an award then that should somehow be held against them?

As to whether Rhianna is 'fun' or not I guess is a matter of opinion. Personally 'fun' wouldn't be my choice of words.

That's also possibly the first time I've seen Mumfords accused of pretending to be Bob Dylan! You sure you're not confusing them with Paulo Nutini?! :D

I may get shot for this but I work as Security Supervisor for River Island, Rihanna is here today for her fashion range if I get a chance will pop a joke about Glastonbury see what she says lol

Edit: people may think I am talking shit but I assure you the above statement is gospel, the chances of me talking to her are slim but she will be here I will attempt it lol!

I don't dislike pop music, I'd of been perfectly happy seeing Beyonce (she's very talented) Rihanna though will sing about 5 words than let the backing track takeover for 15 seconds. It's way worse than what Eminem is lambasted for. And as someone has already pointed out her input in her own music is laughable.

This is the first I've heard of this. I really think Eavis booked Beyonce (she wasn't supposed to be headlining) as she seems down to Earth & I'd hope he wouldn't book RiRi due to unsavoury worldy ways aka bit a of a slag.

Absolutely, they came out before she came on stage, passing flag poles into the first couple of rows of people, with black flags with what I assume is a Beyonce logo on them.

    • Don Broco secret set.
    • Regarding PinkPantheress: I watched the ending of The Cure from the back and then bolted straight to Cupra to save spots on the steps for my entire festival crew. Thus, we all had a good experience there. Sucks that not everybody got to properly see it, but it felt like something out of Glastonbury where those who showed up long in advance got to see a big artist on a smaller stage in good conditions.
