Even though I'm a very big Arctics fan, I think to call them a great booking is slightly over exaggerating it. I think the point to make is that every year, one of the pool of massive acts who hasn't played in a while, plays. That normally happens at every major fest.

In 2011, we had Coldplay, 2010 Muse, etc. etc.

I wouldn't say its a great booking, or a bad one, its just Erm.... well a booking.

I like the Arctic Monkeys quite a bit, but their sound just doesn't suit headlining the Pyramid. Even in an arena they'd go down okay but their music doesn't really carry that well over a field.

Additionally, although some of their recent work has been pretty good, they haven't released anything particularly famous for a while now. Some acts can transcend that through sheer weight of critical acclaim but they're not one of them. Poor headliner choice IMO even though I like them.
