Lots of Hip Hop is great, I can give you a list of stuff as long as, well, whatever body part you want, but Jay Z (always) and Kanye (these days) are dreadful, it's bombastic, unsubtle, lowest common denominator stuff without a hint of wit or intelligence. It's possible to love hip hop and still think those two are tools.

big fan of MF Doom and all his projects, his stuff with Madlib and that, I love El-P (most recent album is the best he's done, going to see him in May, can't wait), Dead Prez, Common, Mos Def, OFWGKTA and associated projects, specially Frank Ocean (yeah, I know it's not really hiphop) and Earl Sweatshirt. Really enjoying Kendrick Lamarr's album at the moment. All the usual old skool stuff (I'm an old man, been listening to hiphop since the mid 80s) especially Ghostface Killah and Liquid Swords. Oh yeah, and the Goats, and Pharoahe Monch, and The Roots and and and I'm going to stop there.

Actually, infact lemme clear up alot of points people make about "watch the throne" and i'l debunk them.

  • Kanye's baby is due in june - Nope, wrong it's due late july
  • Jay-z headlined in 2008 - Arctic Monkeys headlined in 2007 and no one has raised an eyebrow.
  • I don't like their music - Go see someone else.
  • Jay-z was awful in 2008 - No he wasn't, infact from footage it seemed like a pretty good setlist/ event.
  • I hate hip hop/rap IT SHOULDN'T BE AT THE FESTIVAL - Who the fuck are you, noel gallagher?
  • They are mainstream trash - Grow up.
  • Kanye is shit live - I can't say that i've seen him, and I know he may be better on records, but at least he's not kings of leon
  • Their album is bad - Really? There are alot of tunes on there, give it a chance and a listen, and you might like it. It's definitely the good side of rap/hip hop.
  • Kanye's a douchebag - So's Bono.
  • I don't want them to play N*ggas in Paris 100 times - Leave after the first time play then.
  • I don't want them to headline - "You can't always get, what you want".

These are my personal opinions, I just think alot of the hate towards them is unfair

Rant Over.

I'm guessing its not just coincidence that the apparent lack of "firm" Pyramid headliner rumours is linked to the fact that Coachella havent announced their line up yet?

In recent years the line up was around the 9th-10th-11th Jan, I'm putting stuff togehter and possibly coming up with the wrong reason here but I'm guessing this is all about The Stones still? They are waiting, Glastonbury are waiting? Leaving it as late as they can hoping to secure them I guess?

I get a very strong vibe from alot of people on here that the reason why they are shit is because their popular? And that every band liked, and has a huge fan base is shit? Some people on here might be a little bit more hipster than they think.

Kanye's last solo album (MBDTF) was the best thing he's ever done, tremendous record.

Watch The Throne aren't half as bad as some people are suggesting. Even so, about 14 songs of their set will be their best solo hits.

    • RIP Roy Hattersley
    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
