Because for some reason Gaga is regarded by some as a credible artist.

Ye haha I was bit tired :)

Why does so many think Gaga will headline, rather than for example Rihanna? (If we are assuming they inofficially want a female heading)

I think people recon Gaga will headline because love her or hate her, she's the most high profile female pop singer around today.

As for not being credible, I would disagree. She may well be quite gimmicy but she's also very talented. She writer her own songs, plays the piano and she has a great voice. She's exactly the kind of artist Glasto should be going for.

I would love to see Stone Roses as next year's headliners, but as they will have headlined V and T this year I would imagine that they will have been over exposed by the time Glastonbury comes around?

I think:

The Stone Roses: No way Eavis won't try and go for them. They would be such a huge draw and as people have said in the past, they have "unfinished" business with Glastonbury.

Radiohead: They're due an appearance at a UK festival as they seem to play one or two every 3/4 years. Plus, of course, they will go down well, as they have been in huge demand since they last played (2003)

Metallica: Glasto usually gets a "wildcard" headliner, and Lars has even said in the past how he wants to play. Might be a controversial choice but they will put on a world class show and win the crowd over.

Would be strong having Noel Gallagher, The Black Keys and Pixies as subs, and then My Chemical Romance, Pendulum and Daft Punk headline the Other Stage. Aside from that, Glasto line-ups are usually hard to predict because anyone could play, in any slot.

I'd say there was a large list of bands expected to play surely. and seeing as my posts are usually mocked on here  (What can i say?!).

I'd say Gaga, Stone Roses and Radiohead will headline. Not so bold.

I'd still say that they'd be looking at Macca (he won't be around forever, give him his final swansong in the UK limelight, although i saw him in March, he's still unbelievable) Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Arcade Fire, Beach Boys (surely got to be looked at, legend slot maybe?

I'd be over the moon at the prospect of anybody out of Pulp, Arcade Fire, The Stone Roses, Metallica, Radiohead, Kanye West and/or Jay-Z, The Killers, AC/DC, Tom Petty and The Heart Breakers, Bob Dylan amongst others, but my one big wish is The Rolling Stones.

Yup, I think one of them is Radiohead will be one of them.

And as is said Eavis will surely go for The Roses, wether it'll happen or not, we'll see. Still standing firm on them two and GaGa though. The Rolling Stone as the other option.

Can't see Arcade Fire myself, not next year.

    • Even with the recent heavy showers it's too early to tell what site conditions would have been like.  The very hot spell would have certainly dried things up considerably, and rain since then has been equalled by a stiff breeze so, without the benefit of actually walking the site, I'd guess ground conditions at present are about perfect.   If we had a festival to look forward to I think the weather watchers would have been at the "all to play for" stage at present.
    • Hush cancelled with a similar event now taking place at EartH and Cate Le Bon doing her own show, maybe others have rearranged gigs?
    • Yeah I find it strange, if they were just a silly act then they wouldn't be headlining the 3rd stage. The likes of vengaboys yes but they aren't doing their own sizeable arena dates.  That looks very weak for what they could actually get, but GC aren't playing 3rd main stage with The 02 and the Coop arena and in a same slot that KSE are. MIW aren't carrying those two dates either, neither are Turnstile and Parkway Drive tickets didn't play out. You gotta do better than Ghost, Blink and Deftones though.    I think you are a bit even if that is not the intention. I'm genuinely shocked they booked them for the avalanche and I think it'll be rammed out of the tent. While ADTR will obviously get a lot too, many Download attendees will had the chance to see them at Slam Dunk. I think 90s fest getting Scooter was class and while there would have been some Download crossover, the Slam Dunk crossover given acts you get on the avalanche will be a different level.
