Not playing Newborn is a crying shame. It's among my favourite songs and is never short of amazing live. I can see why most of BaRB! has to be on the setlist and it's obvious why TSSK dominates most of the rest, but they could easily drop 2-3 from that and puncture repair and rotate 3-4 songs from the first 2 albums each night. I've seen them 6 times and Newborn has been a highlight every time. I would really hate to see all of setlists leading up to the 28th being a carbon copy of Glasgow's and know before seeing them that they're going to omit their best song. Even leaving out Puncture Repair and having the set 5 minutes longer would let them play it...

They'll still be fantastic - but I like bands that mix up the set each night. I'm seeing The Decemberists tonight having seen them in Leeds last Friday (was in Leeds early for a stag do and managed to get a ticket for £7 off ebay). Judging from their recent sets, almost half of it is likely to be different from the previous date. And they're flawless live.

We thinking there will be a 2nd tour later in the year?

I really want to go, but can't make the dates available that are in my vicinity.

Bloody typically Liverpool has standing tickets still available for this Sunday :(

Glasgow attendees... Were Villagers the only support band? Some of my friends normally finish work at 5/half 5 and will need to get a train to London before a half hour tube - an hour + journey in total. Doors for the o2 are 6:30pm but I'm guessing it'll be Villagers at 8 and Elbow 9-10:50ish if Arcade Fire at the o2 is anything to go by. Is that similar to stage times up there?

Guy did say at the start of the set that this was the 1st night of the 1st arena tour for BaRB! So I assume there will be one later in the year.

As for set times. Doors at Glasgow were 6.30pm, 1st support was on 6.45-7.15 (no idea who as never seen them), we arrived around 7.20 and then Villagers were on 7.30 - 20.15.

Elbow came on at 20.45 and played till around 22.50

Bit gutted about the set-list but there's a long way to go until the O2 dates so I'm sure I'll get into BaRB! even more, it's a shame because for the majority of time when I went to Spain, I listened to Cast of Thousands relentlessly, if anything I would've stuck with songs from that album as they are definitely anthemic arena songs on there that would blow the place away.

A very bizarre thing just happened... I'm on my second listen to the new album and was having a catchup with this thread and looking through Paul's photos. At the EXACT moment I came to this pic those exact lyrics played! All of a sudden everything in my life was in sync :)

With the second listen all the songs so far sound much better than the first, definitely think it will be a 'grower' I'm just hitting that middle section and already it sounds better. All quiet at work tonight so I'll give it a few more listens.

So I managed to get a free ticket to see them tonight and went down with a few mates.

Fantastic gig! So many anthems, the new songs were definitely the highlight for me (it's my favourite of theirs) and Guy Garvey is just a hero. I'd tell of his antics but if they're repeated each night to an extent then I don't want to spoil it.

Roll on Friday 24th!

Seen them last night and was blown away. It shouldn't work in the enormodomes like the arena's they're playing but the setup and Guy's presence made it feel really intimate. It's a measure of the man that he can get a crowds as big as last night to be totally silent during the slow songs like The Night Will Always Win. And what they do during Weather to Fly.... ah man if you don't get goosebumps during that your not alive.

My only concern for them pulling off the same type of show at Glasto is whether they could hold the attention of those that only know the hits, a bit like Gorillaz last year.

I've got the tissues ready. Mr P&P got married last June and we left the venue a married couple to 'One Day Like This'. Glastonbury is so special to me and to Mr P&P, so when they play that on the Pyramid I shall be in floods. Happy tears, mind.

Well they boys were on top of their game in Sheffield last night. Same set as above but (being as it was in Sheff) they brought Richard Hawley on halfway through for The Fix which was good.

Puncture Repair into Some Riot was awesome. Highlight of the set for me.

I think the set list on the arena tour is brilliant, every song on there is a gem. They now have too many quality songs, its a shame they do now play any earlier stuff. The question now is, what will they drop from the set to fit into a Glasto set. The current tour is about two hours long, a Glasto set is 1 hour (1 and a quarter hours tops). I reckin as follows:

The Birds -In

The Bones of You -Out

Lippy Kids -In

Mirrorball -In

With Love -In

Neat Little Rows -Out

The Night Will Always Win -In

Great Expectations -Out

Grounds for Divorce -In

The Loneliness of a Tower Crane Driver -In

Puncture Repair -Out

Some Riot -Out

Weather To Fly (Partial) -Out

Weather To Fly (Full) -Out

Open Arms -In

Starlings -In

Station Approach -In

One Day Like This -In

They will want to keep most of the new stuff in I would have thought. Only Station Approch from pre SSK I reckcon

Any views?!

    • It was never going to be great was it, there is comments of Mickey Mouse all over socials lol which is very similar to Glastonbury.  Someone I know from RIP watched Welcome to the Jungle and left and they went saying they've got to see GNR. It was the only day not to see out as well.
    • I decided to goto bed early for the Aussie game rather than stay up for Scotland. I don't regret my decision, I also love the complete over reaction during the world cup when a player has 1 good game, that Watford winger is now everyones dream signing. Its also funny when clubs get into the hype and end up overpaying for someone who then does nothing in the prem.

    • I read the Kerrang review and they didn’t seem overly positive. The definition of a 6 out of 10.
