Camden Scala is a brilliant place to see gigs, saw Fyfe Dangerfield do a solo set there, and it was amazing.

The new Dinosaur Jr album is awesome, Mascis kills it with that solo on watch the corners.

Totally forgot about Scala, it's a couple of years since I've been there. Cracking place. Saw Mark Lanegan there about 3 years ago. Great venue.

I really need to get myself a copy. Heard Watch the Corners which is absolutely cracking.

After 6 months of physio fixing an injury I've had for 5 years I didn't really know about (as it turned out) I've now played a 90 minute match today and last week for the first time in a few years and got through it fine, no injuries, no feeling 80 years old after the match or the next day etc.

Edit - Lost both games mind you but thats not the point.

I reckon keeping fit is bad for your health. The number of sports people I know who've struggled with injries.

Keeping fit is not synonymous with playing sports. Aerobics isn't sports, playing darts isn't keeping fit.

Football is perhaps okay in the teenage years, and the circuit training for football can be good keep-fit, but playing a sport based on sharp acceleration and deceleration, both based not on what your body wants but on what ball-focus requires, along with slips and impacts... yeah I know lots of adults who have really gross injuries from playing football.

I used to do alot of walking and keep myself in good tone through basic stretching exercises, since I got sick I haven't been able to do a damn thing and I'm REALLY hoping that when I'm all sorted I will be back to doing such things again. A summer indoors contributes quite a bit to making me a grumpy old git. Thankfully the legs are still in good order.

I couldn't think of a greater form of motivation than knowing you have a Glasto ticket for next June. Clearly I do not know what is wrong, but you simply must get a ticket on the 7th, to give you something to focus and and aim for next June. Just knowing you have the ticket will spur you on to get there somehow. Good luck!

Grats feral, and thanks dingbat2, you are both people whose posts have made me smile or given me a bit of insight over the last few weeks when I have been going stir crazy, much respect to both.

Checked my registration, it's expired. Time to get the camera out and register, methinks.

As I'm only on SSP I put in a housing benefit claim a month ago, had heard nothing so chased it (as I'd had a letter threatening eviction due to rent arrears) and after 40 minutes on hold I was told it was "still with a colleague" and I should hear something soon.

I'm going back to work later this week :P At least I am if the doc says so (he will, I am sure) and no more sat around bored out of my fucking mind with nothing but movies, books, the news and browsing forums to fill my time. I have re-watched everything worth watching, re-read everything worth reading and could REALLY use some routine in my life now.

Yes, it's tough being home all the time, I never thought I'd think so, but a few years ago I was ill, and I couldn't enjoy it at all. Could you go back to work on a part time basis if need be? I know they do that in our works if you've been off work for some time.

I asked at the start of last week and they told me they would not allow me to return to work until I was signed as fit by my GP and that they would not make any adjustments to my working pattern or role unless specifically asked to by my GP in writing. I had asked if I could use some of my holiday entitlement to work shorter days for the first 2 weeks back at work and have been told I cannot request this.

That's not helpful. It's all down to your doctor now then :)

Indeed. But like I say, it's all good, I'm feeling much improved, I am well and truly ready to get back to work and my direct line manager is at least someone who is understanding (he just has to take guidance from the HR department who need to cover their own backs, I totally get that they don't want employees making demands without medical evidence and similarly I don't want people with no medical knowledge making demands of me I can't manage, so it's best for both sides)

I'm really looking forward to being around people. The cats make for shit conversation, mostly it revolves around food or the desire to have their head scratched. I'm also looking forward to earning money again, my savings are now entirely gone.

yeah, I think we have to have a fit note to come back on a phased return to work. Hope all goes as planned :)

Good luck with it all. I have been off work for a bit now. I had one of my "strokes" at work and I wonder if the agency are avoiding sending me in. It has left me in the shit as there is a suspended possession notice on my house. I fell behind on the payments on the appears and the landlords agents are being real sods over it. The landlord gave me an ultimatum to pay 400 by the end of the month or I am out. I decided to hold onto all my cash until the end of the month rather than pay weekly like I normally do. The landlord was round on Friday to find out what was happening. My point was if I cant make the 400 and I am out I may as well hold on to what I have. He has told me that he is going to increase the rent in April, just as the arrears would be cleared, by a third as well.

Anyway it sounds like my daughter is settling in to uni at Greenwich. I am quite envious really. I really do need to look at a visit soon. :-)

That's dreadful, hope you manage to sort something out with your landlord :(

Sorry to read that Rufus. I take it from what you wrote you have a private landlord? Hope it all gets sorted out ok. :(

It is not all bad. When I had the first stroke I was really worried about money and benefits and the like. I rang tax credits and due to an anomoly with their system I can carry on receiving tax credits for me and the lad for 6 months without having to send in sick notes and the like. The money is slightly less in total than Income Support but we can manage. To be fair to the landlord, while I am under pressure, he has the house next door but one from me and he gets 2 and a half times the rent for what he charges me.
