Finnish drinkers are pretty hardcore. I went out there 3 weeks ago to visit a friend. Cracking time but I'm considered a heavy drinker by my mates and was completely outpaced.

Finnish ladies are also perhaps the world's best kept secret.

If there reputation is anything to go by slurred words are the norm with Finish people. Aren't they the most hardened drinkers on the planet?

Oh yeah they got me even though I was speaking their 2nd language whilst heavily under the influence.

In my experience I would say all the Nordic nations are pretty hardened drinkers and they have very low crime rates. Just goes to show we can't blame all our problems on alcohol.

They also have good state-education, good child benefits, all the things that our governments seem desperate to crack down on.

A mate called around earlier and we spent a few hours talking shite to each other while getting a little stoned. It felt good. I even ventured out and sat on my new(ish) garden furniture which I hadn't used yet this summer. Got Bestival on Thursday to go to so can't be too bad. Still wish it was Thursday now though!

Sleep is recommended. I didn't get much for a while, then I got some, now I get lots. It varies, but you know what is best for you. Right?

Unfortunately I've never known what is best for me. I will retire from the ether in a bit and may possibly drift off after about an hour or so off fidgeting ( not in a rude way I hasten to add!).

Can't say why (because it'll not travel well), but I'm well happy. All i have to do now is make up an excuse for not going into work. What better ploy than to tell them the truth. That'll keep 'em quiet.

When I was doing festival work I would always tell them the truth on why I was unable to work. I do similar at uni when I can't be arsed to go in or do course work. The lecturer usually laughs as though I am making it up.

Anyway day 2 of the lad going to college and it is all pain free at the moment. I have told him that I won't nag him but he would be a total fuck wit to chuck away the opportunity. I have based this on a financial argument. Because he has been in care he gets about 35 quid a week to attend. On top of that I give him his child benefit, and his course is only 14 hours a week. I put to him that if he has to sign on they will end up putting him on some placement were he will haave to work full time for a bit just for his 50 odd quid dole money. However if he was on the dole I would take 20 or 25 quid off him for food and board, so the choice is simple. Go to college for 50 odd quid, or go on the dole and end up with around 30 quid and probably end up on Workfare.

Hello Rufus

I'm back on the keyboard again. Shouldn't do it really, but never mind. Sometimes honesty is the best tool to use. With the one I'm just about to come up with they'll be so startled they'll agree to anything within the first few seconds.

Fuck YEAH!!!!!!!!!

Just had a phonecall and I have had a massive amount of debt literally written off. I have a number of Student Loans, with some being the original mortgage type loan. If your income was above a certain limit you had to pay the lot back over 60 months. Student Loans had taken me to County Court for nearly 15k, however the debt had not been ackowledged for over 6 years so there is fuck all they can do. I last heard from them back early 2007 to say that I needed to fill out a declaration for deferrment which I did not reply to. I did not hear nything until this year so fuck em. They have withdrawn the claim. :) I know I owe the money but hey hum.

Good for you. There's not enough access to education for those who want to learn, I know the practical financial arguments, but hey I'm an idealist when it comes to human development.
