Fo sho.

I was listening to the Batman album the other week, considering it's thought of as one of his weakest it still has bangers through and through in my mind.  I remember reading at the time that he'd come over to Britain in the height of the acid house movement and had written and recorded the whole thing in a fortnight (except for Arms of Orion, which was an older track finally seeing the light of day) basically working without sleep for the whole time and then presenting an album rather than a single track as expected.  There are references in the songs to his negative take on acid house and it's drug connotations.

Someone mentioned 7 as well, classic song with brilliant use of fingerbells, was a firm favourite in my household for many years.  Again from another under-appreciated album.

7 yes!  That album was on rotation in my house for about three years.

I was lucky enough to see Prince on a whim in 2007 when I was just 16 as my best friend's parents won tickets & couldn't attend. He announced across our Sixth Form common room that he had a spare ticket & most people just shrugged or simply turned their nose up having no real knowledge of who he was.
I said yes & we went later that night. He blew my mind & it was a night I will never forget. We were even treated to the special guest appearance of Elton John to duet with him on a cover of The Long & Winding Road. The set list from that night http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/prince/2007/the-o2-arena-london-england-6bd32eae.html.

Impossible to just pick 3, but it'd probably be out of the following...

The Beautiful Ones

I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man

Thieves in the Temple

Purple Rain

U Got the Look

Controversy

... I could go on. So sad. 2016, you bastard!

I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man is great. There's so many underrated Prince jams on Sign O' the Times.
