Just started watching that film now. I'm liking his brother, I love that he doesn't even like the band

His brother is well good. What did you think, in the end? I really thought it was a lovely heartwarming thing.

The best bit of the film, by the way, is the scene where Matt is asking Tom about the milk and cereal on the floor and his bathing suit.

I loved it. Saw it a while ago with a Q&A with the two brothers which was pretty interesting.

They were quite open about the fact that Matt's wife played a large part in developing the structure and shape of the film.

My favourite bit had to be when Tom was drinking beer and speaking and air guitaring to Annie Clark! Matt just comes over and takes the beer out his hand

I think the film's great. And the DVD's worth it for the hour of extra footage, including a very funny bit where Tom tries to hit on Sharon Van Etten.

Also, saw them in Italy whilst on a well-timed holiday last week. Stunning stuff. Great crowd too, you could here a pin drop during the start of About Today.

I found the ending really touching, thoroughly enjoyed the film.

The band are a pretty po-faced bunch though. I think I'd definitely rather have been in led zep than the national!

Glad you liked it I found it pretty touching. I know what you mean, but I think Matt has is moments of taking himself less seriously. The drummer would be good fun, I reckon.

just finished watching it. it was good! definitely not what i expected (although as i read through this thread before watching it i was a little more prepared for what was to come)

the band themselves seem like a right miserable bunch of guys. i always think with mopey-sounding bands 'ahh but i bet they're a laugh in real life' but these guys genuinely seem to act fit the music they play (although i get that none of them were particularly enthralled at the idea of the documentary to begin with)

The other stage maybe. I don't think they have enough casual appeal to ever headline the pyramid.

Yeah I see what you mean, but I'd say there are one of the biggest bands in the world at the moment. I wouldn't be shocked to see them headline but you're probably right, other stage is more likely. I still can't believe they haven't played in the last couple of years considering they have been on a long world tour. Perhaps they demand too much money.

No way the National would headline next year or ever really, 6 albums in I can't see them growing much more. I think on next album they could push for other headline but most likely other sub/pyramid 3rd down is say unfortunately
