Perfectly reasonable from Skip. Any self respecting Scot, Welsh or Irish fan will be praying England don't get to the final. Do you think Man Utd fans switch allegiance to city when they get knocked out of the cup? There's a reason England are called the auld enemy in Scotland.

Always thought Argentia was a tricky one for Scots due the 9 fatalities the Scots Guards suffered during the Falklands war. I know some Scots that won't cheer them on.

Not pathetic at all. I don't hate the English but I hate the England football team. Same as I hate Liverpool FC but I don't hate scousers. I believe almost every true football fan feels the same. It's called rivalry.

 

We've had 60 years of the English banging on about 1966. Life will be unbearable if you win it again!

This is genuinely news to me mate. Petty as it is (it’s football fans) one of our most sung songs at the World Cup was about maradonnas hand ball in the style of the Hokey Cokey. Personally preferable to the no party thing 🫣

Hating a rival team and having genuine schadenfreude when they lose is one of the true joys of football. I might be supporting this generation of England more than I normally do but I fully respect Scottish/Welsh/Irish people hating.

Don't get me wrong, I f**king hate Scotland/Ireland/Wales and it gives me great pleasure that they're so sh*t.

What riled me is wanting Argentina to beat Egypt simply because that might make it harder for England to progress at some point. I mean what the f**k is that?

Anyway England have got to get past Norway who I think look better than Argentina.

He's from Washington, I'll have you know! My home town - all we have is Pickford and Bryan Ferry (his sister taught me at primary school)  - don't take that away from us!

I do get some of the critisism. He's exactly the same height as me, 185cm which I think is unsual for a modern day keeper. Also when he was younger he was prone to becoming erratic when stressed but he's cut alot of that out. In the two seasons following Everton's Russian owner being sanctioned he was the sole reason they stayed up.

 

He's maybe peaked now so I don't think he's going to take Shiltons overall record and will probably be replaced by Trafford at some point. I think he'll take his world cup appearences record next match to add to the clean sheets and penalty saves ones. There has been better English keepers but he's done all he could and been the best of his generation.

I don't get fans cheering on players for England, the players that they spend the next 2 years despising. I have never cheered for an England goal, just seems weird celebrating a Liverpool or City player scoring.
