I Know it's early but think it's time to start this one off even if it drops down the pecking order .... as mentioned on the webcam thread the pyramid being reorientated has been mentioned , ive chatted with a couple of people and reckon my confidence has increased so going to mark it down as a maybe in my eyes .... obviously as mentioned planning permission yet to be sought so maybe that delays things

Planning can be applied for retrospectively, plus they could take the structure down in-between the festivals.

Was the thought shifting the stage to the right (as you face into the field) to open more of the field up to the stage?

 

Haven't they just carried out ground works/underground cabling  for the sound stage in its current location?

Rotating it and removing the hedge or some of it to the left if you look out from the stage

Just cant wrap my head round the logic for realigning the Pyramid.  Real case of fixing something that ain't broke.

Maybe it’ll somehow make the arena bigger.

totally agree . I mean it was maxed out for Elton why would they need bigger .... dont think theyd ever get that again ?

But agree generally with the sentiment that if it ain't broke. Guess the counter in my head is they wouldn't go to the trouble/expense for nowt🤷

They've already done that by removing camping from Row Mead.

Oasis or Taylor would get similar sized of crowds I think.

 

A bigger structure I can understand, but swivelling the angle would remove the view you get from a good chunk of the William's Green side.

yep fair point all the site were pretty much there , so not sure the need for any bigger unless the site gets bigger ? they did purchase more land I think ?

Backstage is cramped and quite dangerous turning it slightly and bring it forward would free up space for additional production room. It would also reduce some of the sound bleed to the acoustic and cinema.

I get that there's always a trade off, but it looks like the only way to rebalance the arena if the Pramid is facing more towards the Mandela Bar would also be to remove more camping out of Hawkwell.

This is in theory how turning the pyramid stage and removing the current hedgerows could increase the pyramid field. Doesn't take into effect the topography of the hills though.

 

Blue lines are current, pink is new.

And it's the topography that dictates the current set up its kind of a natural bowl at the moment and I think that would get lost in the pink / new view.

does look possible looking at that ..... im going to reserve a space in one of those long drops on the left , think they may also need to rotate them so you have the best toilet view in the world

Potentially…. Although they are planting a lot of trees during the fallow . Obviously the ecosystem takes longer to reestablish than just the planting

Isn't this what they tried to do with Arcadia's moon on a crane thing? Left the base there then applied for planning permission for it. That didn't work.

Reckon they would have to dig it deeper to increase capacity, be so popular it would be in real danger of that Sunday night pile up to the brim earlier than usual😉

If there was a shift in the orientation of the pyramid they would have to take into consideration the tree behind it. Means something to the family if I recollect.

Talking of trees wonder if the big one at the back of pyramid will remain ? It was an ash with dieback if I remember correctly
