Model/Actriz seems quite likely. Reckon there's about a 1% chance of Mount Eerie to be honest.

Yeah if Cameron Winter isnt exclusive elsehwere i reckon they'll announce him. Firstly just to add to the winky face hint hint. But also 2 secret sets including the same person for non-fans would fall a bit flat.

This definitely feels the case but it's interesting to look at Spotify streaming numbers and despite all the press, positive reviews, hype etc none of their songs have hit 10 million streams. Nowhere near the numbers of, for example, someone like Big Thief's most popular songs. More comparable are the likes of MJ Lenderman, who has 12 million streams for Wristwatch and who certainly had a lot of hype last year but Geese hype feels a different level. 

 

For the record I love the Geese album and really hope they play!

I think an element of this is the timing of Geese's rise aligning with strong anti-Spotify sentiment and the move to physical media or other streaming services. But more than that, I think Geese are a bit of an anomaly wherein their popularity can't be quantified by streams but rather but the more abstract 'hype' and the less abstract concert tickets...

MJ Lenderman's last London shows were Roundhouse and Electric Ballroom (approximately 4,500 capacity total) whereas Geese's next London shows are the Apollo and 2x nights at Troxy (approximately 11,000 capacity total)... According to ticket sales, Geese are about twice as big as MJ Lenderman.

Big Thief are undeniably bigger, but I guess the thinking is to catch Geese on the up / get on the hype train before they are too big.

Big Thief have been making music a lot longer too, and have had popular songs across multiple albums.  Geese only have really hit it with this latest release.  Not exactly apples to apples.  As a New Yorker who tries to avoid the American acts at EOTR, especially the NYC bands, I'd be really excited to see Geese/Cameron there.  I think it's the perfect place for them to flex their headline muscles.

Do we think we are still getting a large chunk of names (first wave) in January as usual or have to wait til February now? With the headliners in place, I wondered if that means they are taking their foot off the accelerator.

nah Big Thief trump Geese in terms of ticket sales, venue sizes, streams, chart position, the works. Wouldn't be surprised if Geese have dwarfed them by next album though.. The Geese explosion is insane (and a little baffling)

I mean there is more hype than there has ever been for Big Thief (also a bit baffled by it).

 

And that such is the hype that they will be announced as the headliner for big things in 2026 and to a level BT have never reached. 

 

It's like how The Strokes blew up.

And to show it's not just a "London thing" in Glasgow Geese are playing three nights at Barrowland (3x 1,900) this year, MJ Lenderman played one at the Old Fruitmarket (1,300).

We waited until February last year, the second announcement was on the 13th.
