Absolutely convinced Werchter is on now, it's literally across the water and makes me think they'll be Friday.

Would you think this rules out RAR?, those two German gigs are a fair amount of distance away from both of their sites but they are some time gap before those dates.

Only festivals I see happening is wertcher and Hellfest, are Hellfest funny about exclusivity though, that's the only thing I don't know.

Hell Fest while doing Stade de France I'm not sure.

Of course, no way they’ll be in Europe for more than 3-4 weeks

Indeed. You're likely more clued up there than me. If Werchter managed to get them as their only European Festival date that would be mad. Roskilde is also a possibility with those dates.

Thought there was a quote going around when SOAD first teased Europe that they'd be doing around 9/10 shows. Might've come from their drummer or something? Can't find it now. But think these tour dates, plus the good reception in 2017, make them super super likely for Rock Werchter.

Those dates scream to me a Werchter Saturday top 2 of SOAD and QOTSA, which for my money is an unbelievable start.

I've long held the belief that whenever there's no Glastonbury the festival calendar gets very strong. Factor in the fact The Cure, Gorillaz and Radiohead might be about, we're potentially on for a stellar year...

I agree! I see a potential for the best line up in years with those bands you mention:)

Video with the interview here. Suggests 9/10 European shows. Given we've got 7 dates announced today, I think it leaves the door open for a couple of festivals. Feels similar to Linkin Park last year, mostly their own stadiums but with a few festivals like Werchter mixed in.

It's a case of who they've got for the BIG Thursday sell, I dont think The Cure will carry that day on their own so I'm going for The Cure with The Prodigy closing after them.

A female headliner on whichever day of Saturday or Sunday SOAD don't do.

If tou include the Lisbon date theh are doing as well apparently that's 8 so leaves room for 1 or two. That's going to be Werchter and one other festival.

Makes sense! Is the Lisbon date rumoured at NOS Alive or something?

    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
