Werchter have previously managed to pull in Radiohead, system and foos in the same year. I always remain optimistic that they can pull it out of the bag.

2017 was something else really, their top 3 on Saturday itself could be a trio across many festival trios. Adding KOL, AF and Foos to that was crazy. I'm not really a Radiohead fan but I can appreciate that along with them that two sets of festivals headliners there. If they are about, you'd have to think Werchter would grab them and they dont need to out anyone co-headining with them but it would be the slim pickings day i feel.

Downside was that undercard was somewhat weak-ish that year, by their standards. Remember Passenger and Bonobo being the biggest names in the tents on that Saturday. James Blake and Alt-J subbing didn't do it for me either.

Guess that's what you get when booking Radiohead and Foos on the same year.

I've always liked this about Werchter. They get a lot of criticism for the lineups being too samey. Sometimes plans fall through so they repeat acts (RHCP for example), but ultimately there in a consistent effort to book the biggest acts.

Does anyone know when the first announcement was for this year?

I had quite a bit of undercard, 16 acts at the time I'd have been happen to watch aside from the main headliners each day. Add KOL, LP and Foos to that.

No one could moan about  Radiohead/Bjork-Metallica-Massive Attack-Rem/Coldplay set of werchter headliners.

Not even @northernangel

I wouldn't moah about it but it wouldn't be my first choices. I was definitely not into Radiohead at that point....not much has changed lol. My sister liked Bjork much more than me. Metallica again has been more the last couple few years ive appreciated more than just their few really well knows songs. Massive Attack I dont care for lol. 2017 and other years gone by definitely beats it. In fact, I really liked 2024 sets of headliners even though not the strongest, along with the undercard it worked for me.

Kinda why to a point, if a festival headliner is not booked by Werchter within the realms of what could be then they aren't interested. Werchter 25 undercard did struggle for me, thats very clear, but 3 of their 4 headliners didnt play anywhere else at least in Europe and probably worldwide on the dame card. It was only that Download managed to book Green Day and with a better undercard than Werchter did that kept me away....plus affording it.
