Yeah GNR would kill it off for me, it's already a heavily disappointing start. I can't argue with the others but The XX aren't a major festival headliner. It's a very dull act to finish on if you aren't into the Klub C headliner. Certainly not worth waiting over a week for lol.

Rock Werchter, Primavera, Opener and many other disagree

Headliners at werchter 2026 are top notch for me, would of certainly purchased a ticket.

Yes I know, but you've already got them so you don't need to lol.

But like I haven't said others can't like them and just my opinion, doesn't have any bearing on me if they disagree. Opener have also booked Nick Cave as a headliner who wouldn't outright headline at Werchter so. Massive Attack, Gracie Abrams and Future last year at Opener also wouldn't headline Werchter so what you've actually told me is that two festivals in Europe that got headliners lower than the level of what Werchter usually do last year and this year disagree which kinda doesn't make sense or back your point up.

Primavera have this year and for a while not booked headliners than are top level acts and are subs/second stage headliners apart from one so its not a great comparison. But the whole disagree this doesn't really matter, im not the only that thinks The XX are a poor choice for a headliner, and someone else who does likes them lol.

They will be at others as well, will be very surprised if they are not headlining Rock en Seine and maybe Roskilde.

but defo not a headline band…

Think people still don’t realise the landscape has changed

If I wasn't going to primavera, I would be all over Werchter on ticket sales day. Its a cracking lineup already.

Same.

I have neither the money or the spare annual leave and it’s logistically virtually impossible for me to attend next year.

BUT, the announcements are so good for my tastes, added to what a great time we had this year, has got me doing mental gymnastics trying to work out a way to make it possible.

If they add The War on Drugs, plus a heavier headliner and a big pop act for one of the days and I may just cave.

Yes im hearing you. Got 8 days in Barcelona and planning a late August festival in Europe somewhere. Mrs Time and kids wouldnt be overjoyed,  me swanning off for another 5 days to Leuven 4 weeks after Primavera. 😃

Very much so

Exactly.  The comment that The XX aren’t major festival headliners is very wrong as they’ve all chosen them to headline and they are major festivals.

The pool for what expect as headliners has dwindled and we need new ones.  I’d much prefer then rather than repeat after repeat

Of course they are relevant, thats why festival bookers are only having them as headliners. There break has cemented that push, they were subbing major festivals before there break, so headlining is the obvious step to make.

More than subbing, they were outright headlining Roskilde, Open’er and a dozen other festivals already in 2017 being the largest name of the day in there.

They were second headliner or sub in a few big festivals like Coachella, Glasto, Primavera a few others.

So their placement for next summer is no surprise.

And in case someone doubts that, Werchter and Primavera have the largest budget (30m) of all the european multigenre festivals (aside from Glasto ofc).

Does glasto have the big budget though, I thought the whole thing is that bands play for less because it's glasto, and most of those smaller stages everyone plays for free, or pay to play?

Can we all agree that if a festival doesn't get four massive stadium headliners that perfectly fit my taste then it's rubbish?

After reading the thread I would say it's rubbish if it won't book the exact bands i wanted in the exact order I wanted in the exact location I wanted on the exact dates I wanted and for free.

The fact it's most most bullshit post going is irrelevant. The relevant part is one at max is a stadium act though you've chosen to say 4 because obviously it fits your agument as always....dull dull and boring.

Secondly, The XX is in the only one I've disputed as a headliner option so where are you pulling your shite from this time man?, another series of rubbish to fit your narrative bollocks!

They’re not really a headline band in Belguim.  Much more likely for the barn if anything

They were top line in 2015 and closed out the night. They were also closing out the night in 2009. They are as big as they have been for years, there is absolutely no way they are playing the Barn in slots that Iggy Pop, Underworld, Maribou State and Rufus Du Sol did collectively. Jane's Addition, Roisin Murphy, Jungle to name a few. That's not a dig st the suggestion by the way but it won't happen. They do however fit if Foos agrees to play after them.
