I did. The perception that because you get to see even 10 full sets a day as apposed to 7 meaning 40 sets over 21 has no bearing on the quality of what's booked, it's just purely extra bands. You will probably get clashes too of wanting to see both bands. The only factor and again I won't be alone in where your money goes will be the lineup quality rather than just filler. If Mad Cool booked LP and GD along with Olivia for example this year, the Mad Cool lineup would have won hands down over Werchter whether it is one less day or not.

"Obviously if you don't like the bands, don't go to the festival."

"...if you don't like any of those bands, this comparison is meaningless. However if you see the lineups as being roughly similar then there is better value at RW."

This whole argument was already caveated by saying that if you don't like the bands or have a strong preference for seeing one act over all others then it doesn't matter. I think you've missed the point.

Well it was, you measured the interest in attending by the amount of bands available to see over 4 days vs 3. Bit yes we'll move on.

As value, a festival where you can see 35 acts is going to be better than one that you’ll see about 12-15 max when they all share the same acts and have minimal differences.

moving on…

Has no bearing and does not matter at all. A festival over 3 days could end up with headliners I want to see over what a 4 days festival book and an undercard I find better. So do I just go to the 4 days with less of an interest to me and I wouldn't be the only one in that boat by the way, just because there are more bands and it's the same price of thereabouts? Would make no sense at all. If Werchter booked Sabrina, Mumford, the others and The Cure but I was only interested in one of those headliners, am I just going because its 4 days worth of music or am I going to a festival I would potential see more value for me in?

It doesn't have to be a city break, yoi are able to attend the festival without spending time in the city too.

Well if that leak is correct completely for next year they have Sabrina, Foos, Mumford, Florence, TOP, Nick Cave and Deftones. While Im not into them all, im not going to say they have struggle there. The Cure is the big one currently that would stop me going.

Ypou going to Mad Cool if that's the eventual lineup? Which way you leaning? I'm off to Roskilde I reckon...

No mate. Mad Cool in the July heat would be hard, obviously festival is on at later hours but Madrid itself was 30 degrees when I went first week of October....I may have got lucky but I thought damn its still this hot now. I like Florence and Foos bit Sabrina, Mumford, TOP and Nick Cave wouldn't drag me there over The Cure at Werchter who could easily have Florence and Foos too.

Yeah it was hot at Mad Cool when we went in '23... Not a bad festival but logistically it was weird, too cramped and the tolet situation was a joke so we vowed to never go back. Although it had a few drawbacks itself, if heat is an issue then Werchter is definitely the best bet...

Word is Mad Cool has sorted itself out. Roskilde has nothing really for me so it's not even really an option. Roskilde 25 was never on my radar. Nor was 24 or 23 only having a couple I was bothered with but poor lineups for myself. Werchter is one of the one's I've tracked a long time but Glastonbury always got in the way. This year I had a lot of issues at home and lack of money coming in meant £600 for it was off the cards.

It was 38-39 degrees C for the first couple of days at RW this year (Wed & Thu) and high 20s for Friday and Saturday.

No idea if this was normal for Belgium in July, but worth bearing in mind if you’re not a fan of the heat.

Based on 2022 and 23, not so much 24 and 25, one of Latitude headliners has played this. It probably is more than likely Teddy Swims, likely between him and David Byrne though as Capaldi doesn't make much sense though technically he could still it bit doubtful

Last year had quite a few in high positions crossing over both (Elbow, Maribou State and Sigrid, as well as some others like Alessi Rose, Lambrini Girls and Nofun!.

Id expect Teddy Swims, The Last Dinner Party, Getdown Services and English Teacher from that

I guess that's summer everywhere now tbh! Haha At least there would've been shade at Werchter though, which can't really be said for Mad Cool!

That’s a good point. Plenty of shade and, in the Apero bar next to The Barn, they even had water misting from the ceiling.

Great place to enjoy a beer or a cocktail, if you have a gap in your schedule.

Yeah thia year was an unusually hot summer wasn't it. The UK was really hot through a period but while you won't get that every year here, you will at Madrid at its their climate.

The good thing about the Latitude announcement is, albeit I missed some bands somehow is Wet Leg have been and gone so they are out. It doesn't open Tom Grennan up slightly though English dates expected more so probably

What’s the thoughts on Pendulum as a dance barn headliner?

I'll take them generally. I was actually coming into to say similarly I think The Prodigy dates just announced likely rule them out of this.

Not seen Pendulum announced anywhere though apart from the Download possibility tonight

Gaga meant to be doing UK stadiums next summer btw.  No idea if that means she’ll do anything else of course

Knew i saw something, that puts them in the area and definitely more likely got Werchter than Graspop.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
