Why?  It's two years away and he seems to have really gone off the boil in terms of his popularity.

Because im not seeing this "gone of the boil" -   People aged 16-25 still absolutely madly obsessed with him like he is the dance music messiah

He will still sell out mega sized venues no problem - I think its very premature to write him off

For the record i think he is crazy overrated -  but thats not gonna stop an absolute legion of fans turning up to watch hm on the Pyramid should he make it.

Fred again is still seen as one of the most exciting dance artists to emerge this decade, and his set in 2023 went down a treat. I think writing him off is premature and out of touch. At Notting Hill Carnival this year, Victory Lap was by far the most popular song I heard across the different stages. The dance scene at Glastonbury is getting bigger and bigger each festival and there’s thousands of attendees who would see Fred as top crop for a headliner. It was only a year ago that he got a huge crowd at Reading/Leeds and he hasn’t been that active since.

I also didn’t realise I so passionately cared about Fred.

Somewhat bored at work and a lot can change in 2 years but a look at who might be in the frame:

Oasis- seem to be touring into 2026 but will it go to 2027? Money maybe an issue, how much do they want to do it?

Foo Fighters- In the frame apparently, 10 years since they did it and friends of the festival.

Chappell- need a female headliner, was asked to sub in 2025. Could take 2026 off and be about in 2027?

Taylor Swift - 'Owes' the festival and new album. Obv totally up to her desire to do it.

Harry Styles- Seems an obvious fit and will be about by all accounts. Paper talk his team wanted it.

Sam Fender- Probs should have done it in 2025, maybe album 4 by then?

Rihanna- always rumoured but not played in years. Has to come back at some point surely.

Fred Again- Was in talks for 2025, but how big is he atm? Next live dates will tell us a lot

Fontaines DC- turned down a sub slot this year apparently, very popular. Maybe 2028?

I've probs missed a few

The ones you've missed are either the safe pair of hands (Muse, The Killers), the unlikely pop legends (Adele, Beyonce, Lady Gaga), or weaker options who would need strong headliners on the other nights (Dave, Lorde). Plus Radiohead.

It kinda says a lot about how this is all going that the £85 for a standing ticket to see Foos in Cardiff last summer is now cheap for a stadium show.

Seems a bit bonkers, doesn't it. And even I still don't think that's cheap.

I'll be curious to see what the pricing is like for The 1975. They clearly have the appeal, but at the same time, their prices only just broached £60 at the top end with fees for the 2024 arenas, with plenty for less. Think it certainly helped juice their demographic.

Oh ofc its not cheap. First big outdoor stadium gig I got was £50 per ticket (Green Day in 2010, which even then was an increase on the £30 it cost to see them in Milton Keynes in 2005). But compared to the £150 Gorillaz want for standing at the Spurs stadium next summer it looks like a bargain.

I know. Kind of getting a little insane, especially when they're artists who don't automatically tally in your head as massive.

Sabrina Carpenter must be in the running

Without any actual intel, I don’t think she would because of the pay check…and she could probably play a couple of nights at Wembley Stadium instead.

Chappell is more likely. Or if Gracie’s next album takes off, maybe her (but more likely subbing).

Where is Oasis, Dua Lipa and Olivia Rodrigo?

You've got Moby, Armin van Buuren, Iggy Pop, Groove Armada, The Strokes and I'll say Kaskade, you can happily keep the rest.

I said Oasis, Karol and Sabrina.

So as sh*tty is you think it is, it sold out. All 250k worth of tickets. The war chest is full for Taylor 2027 lol. And Stagecoach still hasnt even announced.

    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
