See, as expected, Fontaines confirmed that Belfast was the last gig of the Romance touring; and that was some serious touring.

 

Intrigued to see what they come back with now, and when.

They've churned out 4 albums in 5 years, part of me thinks they might take a few years off.

Olivia Dean probably going to take 2027 off, I'd wager - unless she completely skips festival season next year, though I'd anticipate she's potentially going to get a decent R+L position given the arenas are already gone.

I think two of your 2028 headliners will be correct, if not all 3. 

 

I think Fender depends on if he's doing anything major next year. Starting touring the UK late 24, doing 25 heavy, doing 26 and then 27 is over play.

 

I don't think it'll be as long as that for Fontaines. I think with The Cure it would likely need to be 29. Again, touring 26 and 27 and playing a 3rd year would be odd....unless they get them back early but I can't see it. Also depends how much longer after this tour The Cure go.

This an exclusive revelation? With the exception of announcing they're releasing a live movie of shows in Mexico City on their last tour, there's not really been much DM news but they often have to have long gaps between albums where they don't say much so it's not like this pause in activity from them is that unprecedented.

Perhaps the closest comparison to these acts that has played might be Seventeen -  Pyramid headlne size act based on Global appeal,  played 3rd on the pyramid watched by very few.

Yeah - in theory the way to tempt acts like that is the promise of good exposure from a decent daytime Pyramid slot and related  broadcast via the BBC.  Seventeen performing to an empty field will really show that that's by no means a guaranteed return on investment.

They've not split up, but Gahan did say not long ago that they're not even thinking of doing anything.

 

So I'd wager there's some time to wait before they surface
