It would make much more of a statement if Chappell, Charli et al made anti-Hungarian Government comments during their sets that were picked up by the media and used to embarrass the narrow-minded thoughts of the politicians.

Pulling out would just upset the queer cohort in Budapest even further, surely?

Thats 100% my thoughts. As someone not from Hungary I don't want to speak for them but I would think that would be much better than not showing up. Somebody needs to show up to celebrate them when the government wont especially in such an inclusive festival. I think I would understand the calls for a boycott more if the festival shared those views but they so clearly do not.

As a gay man myself the world is slowly heading backwards to a less inclusive place which is scary to see, so any support and escapism that can be sought can only be a good thing.

Precisely. It'll be interesting to hear what Queenz have to say about it every night!

Freedom of speech in Hungary if Chappell Roan cancels.

How stupid this person must be to even suggest something like that?
It's pretty much saying: "Hey Hungary, I see you do have an LGBT-friendly event left, let's get rid of that as well, don't do a half-hearted job!"

So no more names for Main and Recolut stage right?

I seem to recall Sziget said something like “don’t worry we aren’t finished” but in the next part of the sentence they seemed to say it’s only dance, circus and that sort of names still to come.

yes, we miss Just smaller stages names. Still something interesting can still come up. Personally I have lots of acts i wanna see every day (in particular First day Is insane) so this year I think I Will balance my experience. Last year I skip most of Maine stage/bigger acts as they were sooo weak

But out of the loop, is nothing but thieves confirmed to be out? Was really hoping they’d come again, their show two years ago was a highlight

Yeah, seems like all acts for Main and Revolut have been announced. Also, the only day they could possibly play is Wednesday...

It’s just been announced by the major that a new bridge is planned for the island. Not instead of the K bridge but at a new location.

Not sure if this will be useful for Sziget, because it’s further down south, but possibly. Tbf it confuses me because now there will be 3 bridges from Buda and still non from Pest:

All very quiet in here recently. Price rise tomorrow evening. Can we expect any announcements straight after that do we think?

I hope I won't be banned or anything. They clearly communicate that all the music programme is set, but one of my acquaintances who knows some romours says around 25 April, we might get a woman pop artist for Thursday because Nelly will perform at around 17.30, just like Bebe Rexha. I dont know if it is true or they are just tricking me. 😅

But if Nelly is on main stage from 17:30, that would mean Justice is after her? That's the only thing that makes sense to me

I can't see Nelly not being a sub tbh. Plus, on 2 April, Sziget replied to a comment on socials asking if there were any further headliners or subs to be announced for main stage or Revolut with:

This is it for headliners & sub indeed. But we still have hundreds of acts to announce, from music, to dance, to theatre, and circus

I don’t think it’s that confusing. While the island is like 50 meters from the Buda side, it’s much more further away from the Pest side and I can’t see any valid justification for the need of a bridge to the island from Pest. Even if there was, it would cost a lot more than a short pedestrian bridge.

Yeah I see your point - I guess I didn't realise how much further Pest Is but still... Why not make a new bridge then instead of the K bridge which in in shambles. I personally don't see the point of a third bridge 10 minutes walk from there but I am happy to be corrected.

The main reason is probably money. While K-bridge should be renovated, it should be done by Budapest alone and I guess it’s far from cheap as probably the whole structure should be thrown away and replaced by a new one. This new bridge on the other hand will be built for a direct access to the island for WCG Residential complex, it will probably start on its premises, going above the quay. And my guess is the developer of WCG will greatly support the project financially.

    • yes, but it will be called a care tax...much nicer name...and they will bin inheritance tax which no one likes even though most people don't pay it....and it will be used to pay for your granny. Burnham is obviously the saviour and will win labour another landslide because he's nice northern lad and not some sir c**t from surrey.
    • Hey, I correctly predicted the entire Bizkit Main Stage day months in advance 😝
    • Its just going to be another dementia tax isn't it? The issue is this is going to be seen as a continuation of the labour government that have already raised taxes 1000% above manifesto promises.
    • One thing that Burnham has been talking about is scrapping inheritance tax and replace it with a social care levy ... which would be less progressive, but might be a good idea if was a solution for the social care crisis. Would need to sell it well to a public who would prefer not to pay more tax.
    • Maybe you should put your name forward to be Burnham's chancellor.
