There's a rumour of 1975 doing that new Come Together event in Newcastle alongside Robbie Williams & Kings of Leon, so that would count as a part of it. Whether that's enough by itself is another query.

If its in Bradford i would maybe doubt the 1975. Bradford / Leeds is pretty much the nearest major urban area to Newcastle.

 

Obviously BBC r1 weekend will be announced after but they are quite close by.

 

I doubt they share two headliners like jj put above

Well they've been rumoured for Glastonbury for a few months now. So, seems like as good an excuse as any.

Kings of Leon haven't been supported by Radio 1 in years now, and I don't think Big Weekend has ever had a headliner who aren't regularly played.

They're playing Lytham and Cardiff as well.

 

But yeah I'd be surprised if they're still on the Radio 1 radar at this point. Maybe if they do they can party like its 2009.

Bradford officially became the city of culture i think last weekend so maybe give it a few weeks.

Yeah, I didn't think they'd be back until 2026 at the earliest until the odds dropped like mad.

 

They are the kind of band who could pop up for one warm-up, the G, and go again though, to be fair. So much really depends if they have that new record to tout or not.

 

Either way, Radio 1 Big Weekend would actually be a decent little spot to road-test three or four new songs live, then play the other bangers.

Bradford was just speculation given it seems to follow city of culture. There were doubts due to the size of parks in the city (not very big).
